Cubes, I think that would naturally be the case, ebcause the 10w 50 is simply more viscious. E.g. if you had a castrol in the 5w40 and a 10w50, I think you'd probably find the same thing woudl occur. The 5 w 40 would froth easier. I would imagine that a 0 w 30 would froth even easier when shaken in your bottle.

Am I right? please correct me if i'm not.

Cold start this morning and the motor is noticably noisier with Castrol 10w60 than when it was running the Motul 8100 5w40.

Noisier being piston slap. Prior it could hardly be heard, only with the bonnet up.

Now it is noticable when standing next to the car.

Does bear some relevance to Motul. I would have thought the thicker oil would = a quieter piston slap.

The Motul 8100 5w40 is also a clearer or more transparent colour over the Castrol 10w60.

In my Jonny Walker I can't see through the Castrol 10w60 oil as it is a dark colour, the Motul 8100 5w40 I can, Just.
