its prob not that easy to do, although i've never tried...

i have a tv hu, and unless your going for the "13tvs in the car" effect you prob wont need it..?

your front and rear passengers can see the tv hu fine, unless u have like electronic gauges displaying on the tv or something. then it might be worthwhile adding an extra tv for movies or music videos...

who said it was goin to be on whislt driving :P ... prob. a good idea to ask them but thanks for the advice chris

Im buyin the h/u very soon couple of hundred more bucks to go !!! i already own a ps2 and a 7' or 8' lcd monitor is pretty cheap these days hey you can get a head rest setup for like next to nothing check out some of the bargains on here http://motors.listings.ebay.com.au/Car-Aud...ListingItemList (im buyin a pioneer h/u to not a cheapy ;))

Hey chris you could probally give me an estimate as to how much sound deadening a skyline would cost!!! as you prob know they sound pretty crapy when not deadened =(

So has ne1 done this or not???

To sound deaden a skyline you could probably spend from $50 to $500 and them some- how long is a piece of string?

I put 8kg into my car into the front doors. That was around $150 (if I recall correctly).

The screen in the crashpad looks tacky, as do ebay LCD screens with playstations attached to them but it will still impress the 16 year olds - no offense intended there but that's my honost impression.

If you wanted to be real showy about it spend the extra cash and wait for a good deal to come up on caa or something and buy yourself an automated alpine and mount it above your stereo...

my 2c.. either way - good luck :P

how long is a piece of string?

to do every panel on the car would take $5-600 to do properly in materials alone. time would be on top of that. considering that pulling the interior out of a 33 takes me an hour and the SD takes another 3 -4 you would have a 300-400 labour charge as well.

really depends on how much of the car you want done.

I'm just about to buy this pioneer h/u http://www.pioneeraus.com.au/car_entertain...0dvd/index.html :uh-huh:

nobody likes the idea huh well thats to bad :D

bout $600 hundred for materials aye better start saving :D

thanks guys if anyone has a positive answer about the tv in the dash i'd like to hear it

thanks guys

There is the little matter of what's behind that part of the dash..have you had a look?

Also in the in the advent of an accident...you wouldn't want your passengers forhead burried in your TV...would you?? And ..yes..I do know about seatbelts.

hey dude, dont think we dont think its a good idea, we're just letting u know of things u might have overlooked, thats the whole reason your asking on the forums right?

i think its alright, just probably easy to *** up and cost quite a bit to get done professionally.

i have a headunit tv in my car, i wanted one real real bad, then i got one, dropped 2.5k on the alpine touch screen, after about a week the novelty wore off and i wanted to sell it.

i still have it, but i wouldnt buy one again, unless i was spending 20k on a full show install and wanted to go all out...

i would suggest get the tv hu if thats what u want, put the ps2 in the car, (make sure u spend $300 getting a true sine wave power invertor, cos the $70 ones die in 3 months)

then think about if u really need the tv in the dash, maybe a roof mount or one in the boot lid if you have a boot install would be better??

dan

thats right danh, i see now maybe its not prctical but i will still keep it as an option

as an alternative what about a monitor in the glove box??? :D

as for the boot that was my next port of call =)

i found the head unit i think i am going to go with its a double din kenwood unit ... they seem to realy intergrate into the cabin (see the link below) plus you can get sat nav upgrade =) ...

i had worries with the the fold out unit blocking the air-con controls (plus they look tacky when you move them down!!!)

later on i was looking at puting monitors in the headrests its just so cheap now to do it. I mean why not do it, the most expensive thing is the h/u but if you are patient one can be had for $1500 bucks brand new!!! :)

yehthat tv looks nice!

i think the best place in a 33 for a ps2 is prob the boot if not in glovebox...

but then again, you have to get out to change cds

i was gonna put one of the new little ps2's with flip up cd lid in the fold down armrest in back of rexy, but didnt end up doing it... wireless remotes, and all that crap,, would have been mad

man i have a screen on a small bracket conected to the dash in frount of the passenger at its great easy to take down if you dont want and get for the passenger.

i have a 7" screen portable and a jvc dvd head unit, and the cool thing with the jvc is that you can be doing both playing the dvd and lissening to the radio ( passenger lissing through head phones) ill post some pict latter tonight to show you what i mean (dont have any programs to make the file smaller to go on the fourm

car ps2 hmmm sounds interesting have to wait and see

k would be cool 2 see what it looks like ... cant wait for the pic :)

one thing i have noticed about the dvd h/u's is they lack alot of audio features ... i am upset that the kenwood unit for $1600 dollars doesnt have an adjustable eq only preset sound curves

thanks guys

ohh yeah from what i've gathered no-one has done the tv in the dash thingy ahh well....

yeah man i resprayed the dash black but i changing it to the colour of the car (marone) to match the seats im putting in.

it mounted on a custom bracket i made from some stainless steal i floded and drilled a few hols so the glove box latch holds it in place all the time ( i mean the little thing that screws in to the dash the lock holder ) all i do it take two screws out and the screen is taken away.

its great and the cops can't say anything cos it on a switch that byepasses the handbreak but they cant see it so if i get pulled over i flip the switch and it makes the tv turn off and on with the hand break.

making it legal.

    • Hey guys. I have a 400R on its way to Australia from Japan currently and have a few questions I’m hoping others may be able to help with.   Wondering if anyone here has had any luck getting the Sat nav unit to work in Australia!? Assuming the Stereo is as simple as a band expanded and tv won’t work?  Seeing as they’re based off a Q50 which is Aus delivered is there any way to link that system to the nav? Nav modules and head unit are different part numbers and appear slightly different at the rear with plug ins etc. can I put my xtrail sd card into the rv37 and will that convert the maps or update to Australian? Has anyone got any advice here?     also has anyone fitted the factory remote start and Security system once it’s landed in Australia? I put an enquirey to Nissan Japan in via a third party, and they suggested it needs a Nissan Japan dealers device to setup and couldn’t guarantee if one here could do it or not. They can supply and I can physically fit it but to setup I would need a dealers device. Any information here would be appreciated also. I’ve seen one here with it fitted already prior to leaving Japan at a dealer/inporter, so clearly passes compliance and works when fitted Japan and doesn’t need changing here.      also, does the tyre inflation sensors work here? Does anything change with them when the vehicle arrives? Where are they actually situated? I’ve read they have batteries and they need to changing at times and seems like resetting involves the nav system?    any help here would be appreciated and any other aust specific information to help would be great. Looking forward to see what the current generation skyline is like and eager to see how many of the gadgets can be utilised here.  Thanks in advance
    • Do need to take it with a pinch of salt. One of the adapter failures, they clearly had setup issues with the flywheel.  One of the slipping ones I spoke to and it was pretty clear the throwout was riding, rather than fix, just swapped to a new clutch.    These clutches are being put in anything from 5k offroad 4x4 beaters, GR yaris, 500hp commodores to 1200hp barra monsters. Bound to be some issues in some of them when they are not a simple bolt in affair due to the changes in height.    There is a lot going on in this picture and unless I did the job myself no way to tell what really happened.
    • I did this mod in 2019  You just have to modify the top bracket of the ABS/TC/Fuel Pump Control ECU so it sits more upright and closer to the back seat and run a good quality positive battery lead from the engine bay, the negative lead i just bolted down to the body in the boot.
    • Damn... Not the feedback I want to hear.
