My plan, is it good but?

Recommended Posts

man i only paid $1100 through just cars with my non turbo on my p's

they are a great car and go just fine, you get all the looks and if you just dont do stupid things you will come out great.

No one knows what under your bonnet until you show or do some stupid so if he plays it right he will never be looked down on ever.

And no mater if its non-turbo or turbo its a skyline and we know we all love them.

i intend to do alot of exterior work (body kits and neons)

note: I know they are illegal but u can install a switch to turn them off, use for show-offs or cruising

If i cannot find a black skyline R33 GTS (non-turbo) i will repaint it with Jet Black, but i dont know how expensive it is to repaint etc. as i hear there can be double coat etc. for it (im new to the whole custom thing lol :P

3. What type of amp will i need for?? (4 channel 400 watt kenwood or sony)

First of all, neons r legal only if the tube is hidden so if u have ur neons turned on and the actual neon tube is visible then u will be defected for it, but if they r under ur side skirts, front bar etc its ok

Second getting a car resprayed is fairly expensive but if that dosnt bother u then sand it down urself and save some money.

thirdly, dont buy sony car amps, subs or speakers cause they r crap

hey thanks for the info on insurance :D

i have seen the adds for Just Cars so i was already going to try them out for a quote :D

do you suggest third party with fire + theft or fully comp??

i did a quote for third party and its $690

i have submited a new quote to find out the fully comp but has anyone got the price so i can compare it to the new quote? :D

i am currently going to the Peninsula School (mount eliza) righta cross from Mount Eliza Primary :( in year 12

and thats cool i work at flakey jakes in bentons square (right next to mt martha) :) i work thursday nights and saturday nights (5 - 9pm) so if ur in the area be sure to drop in hehe :)

cheers again for all the info

and i will remember not to get the sony amps, speakers etc. :)

Dont forget insurance, it might be worth looking at www.justcars.com.au and doing a quote.

I think you'll will find you will still be up for $2000 a year, even though its non-turbo.

PS i'm from Mt Martha, which school did/do you go to?

merlin6014 1) a non-turbo will come in well under $15K, maybe under $10K? good luck selling it though - its hard enough to sell an import let alone a non-turbo one.

Exactly my words, expect to lose about 4 grand in value of your non turbo as soon as you buy it, cause when reselling, its gonna be sooo hard. I just sold my non turbo skyline and had to drop the price to sell it. I lost about 4 grand in resale. The n/a market is so very small.

Dont make the this fatal mistake.

I am 21 turning 22 in august, i have been driving since 18 which means 4 yrs+ of driving. I am given Rating 2 ( dunno why ) at $1100 from Just Cars for a R33 GTST S2. You are 18 yrs old, which means you most probably just driven for 1 yr plus?? I think you will need to pay about $2000 for the turbo car. Maybe less for non-turbo? The 3rd party insurance is pretty standard for everyone, i was qouted $680 as well for 3rd Party fire and theft. Once you start modding the car, your insurance price will raise as well.

Cheers

Hey

The final question i have about the car is just about the difference in fuel consumption between the R33 Turbo and R33 Non-Turbo

im not a car engine buff as u may have noticed :P but im just curious

How many liters per 100km is a R33 Turbo?

How many liters per 100km is a R33 Non-Turbo?

i have read many many different responses to this in the search

but if they are both running BP Ultimate Ron 98 or something similar

my real worry about the turbo is, how much more money are they to run in the long run with maintenance (talking 5 + years) and also do they drink a bit more in fuel department??

i know there are other threads about it but i just want to make 100% sure before i jump into buying either one

thanks for all the help

    • Unless there's something particular about the Greddy manifold's injector holes that I'm not aware of, those injetcors look to be totally wrong. They would absolutely want to be spaced up to get those long snouts out of the runner. Which, I think, is not usually the way that that problem is solved. I think the problem is solved by using the correct injectors, which would be much more like what Andrew posted.
    • Thanks for the reply, So i've continued playing around, and fitted the injector adaptors onto the injector, the fuel rail is not able to be mounted now as the injectors sit a bit further out. I suppose the point of the adaptors is so that the injector nozzle isn't so deep into the intake? I suppose 1mm extra on the o-ring would do it but still can't mount the rail onto the intake haha. Waiting on a reply from Aeroflow I'm sure there's something stupid that I'm missing...

    • I have a radium fuel rail on my Greddy manifold and used the supplied radium fuel injector to manifold adapters (The round green things pictured). I did always wonder if you could just go ahead and use the second lower hole like you're doing... Wouldn't thicker o-rings solve your issue?
    • From what I've seen and experienced first hand with those powder extinguishers, they're good to use to break a window and escape the car, and half the time then do f**k all to stop a fire. You just need much more than 1KG worth of powder. Not to mention, half the time it's an engine bay fire, and you can't easily, and do not want to completely open the bonnet, so you're left pretending to be an American Infantry... Spray and Pray baby!   And then 100% that shit is really destructive afterwards!   Realistically, those little ones at a race track might help you keep the fire from growing and give the fire marshal / truck a chance to actually get to you with their multiple large bottles.   For a road car, these days, prepare to deboard as quickly as humanly possible, and move to safety. Allow insurance to fix replace it (unless it's like a rare classic etc, then do nearly everything possible to save it!) Keep the little extinguisher with you to help protect other things around you from burning while you stand there singing "How can we sleep while our beds are burning?"   Secondly, powder extinguishers I freaking hate for indoor use, (this isn't really relevant to a car) as you will get a powder fog around you, and it can be disorientating.   When I did fire training when at BlueScope Steel, they have (had?) their own fire brigade on site. We did all the training, and at the end we were told, "If it's an indoor fire, and you need to use a powder extinguisher, we as the fire brigade would rather you just exit the building, you're more likely to get lost in the smoke and powder fog than do much help, so just GTFO" And pretty much that was what they said for most other fires too, grab extinguisher, if it's much more than paper in a bin fire, use extinguisher to get you and others out of the building to safety...   Part of me wishes when my Skyline caught alight many moons ago, I let insurance sort it out, instead of putting the fire out... part of me now says "But I've saved a classic before it was a classic!"
