Exhaust temp sensor question

My exhaust temp sensor not plugged in.. when I bought my car it was just dangling on the road.

Is this bad? necessary? what are the possible side effects of not having it plugged in?

wont cause any problem mate. it justs operates the warning light on the dash to tell you two things:

1. your cat is overheating and may cause damage

2. don't park on long grass as you may start a fire.

not having it just means the warning light wont work, no biggie.
