Need help! Does anyone know if R33 GTST calipers/rotors will fit a S2 RSV (RWD)???? They are definitely not the same as RSfour: we tried to fit R34 brakes today (off an RSfour), and they wouldn't fit: Bolt holes were too small, and bolts were too long! Has anyone found a solution to this?? Help needed asap!

I'd say yes but couldn't confirm. I would think either R33GTST or R32GTR would fit, but like I said cannot confirm it??? And I'm pretty sure Series 2 RS4 brakes aren't the same as R34GTT brakes either.

S2 RS4 brakes are not the same as R34GTT: the skyline brakes are bigger, but the fit straight on. This is not the case with a RWD S2. Thanks for that, but there are so many theories on this, opinions are exactly that: he needs a definitive answer from someone who has actually done the conversion on a S2 RSV.

When all my parts get here I'm doing a complete brake overhaul on my series 1. The only thing I haven't sorted out is the brake shoes for the hand brake setup. Does anyone know the part numbers, availability and how easy they are to do, are they just like normal drum brakes just smaller? Never done them before. I've heard that they are the same for all skylines so would this apply to the stageas as well?

i have been told by gorgasm that r33 rotor have the wrong offset to fit on and rsv but the calipers off r33 bolt on to my standard rotors

standard rotor size for rs v is 290mm fronts

will i have any trouble if i bolt r33 front calipers onto my standard discs

the OD and width of r33 rotors are the same i put the 2 rotors side by side today

give it a try if you have the gear lying round and it all looks the same. SK seems to think r33 rotors should fit with the diameter cut down 6mm.

However I bought slotted DBA r33 rotors and machined em down to 290mm and they didnt fit due to the offset. $$$ paper weight as they dont fit my car and will no longer fit an r33.

Sorry can't help with the N15 question (but very interested to know the answer)... but

do the genuine (nissan) pads squeal when they get low? Or do they just grind the disc?

Got some genuine pads so might take photos for prosperity while they're still in the box. They look already used... there's some material 'shards' around the edges of the pad surface. Look pretty serious though.

did you buy GTR or gtst rotors? as i believe its only the gtst rotors that will fit

Lol just read post above this re what appears to be the same problem... :down: But wasn't sure if that was about front or rears, as I think GorGasm's Stagea is a 2WD and I read the rears are different on 2WD's?

Front Disc Rotors - DBA 4963 (R33 GTST) modified by machining down the OD by 6mm, all of the other dimensions are the same. Unlike the Series 1, this is very minor machining, I would not expect any problems with this, we do it all the time on the race car rotors.

Hi all, I had a bit of a problem here... I got hold of some RDA R33 GTST rotors via the long-running SAU group buy and had them machined down. However, they fit but the offset is wrong - they foul the caliper mounts. Unfortunately, since this doesn't actually prevent you from re-installing the caliper, I was able to install the first one, then reverse the car out of the garage to get at the other side. This was when I heard some binding noise, and sure enough it'd taken great chunks out of the rotor...

Can anybody else who has fitted the '33 GTST rotors to a series 2 stagea comment on this? My question now is, were the rotors made to the wrong dimensions, or do they not actually fit (in which case, I suggest a modification to the original post above...)

my personal opinion is why didn't you change to R33 callipers also then you wont have that problem

and your brakes will actually pull you up

1. R33GTST calipers will fit and not foul the rotor (I don't see how this is possible when the caliper mounts will be the same?)

2. Are R33 calipers really that much of an upgrade over the S2 stageas? they are both twin piston jobs... are the R33 pads bigger or something?

3. The lines fit....

edit: 4. The damage machines out of the driver-side rotor

But, I'd have to get a workshop to fit them, 'cause I can't do a vacuum bleed of the brake circuit at home.

Anyone know what is wrong here? Is Sydneykid's post incorrect, or do my '33GTST rotors have the wrong offset? S1 v S2 difference?

...ah... just thought again and realised that R33 calipers won't fit these rotors as they're now too small!!!

Looks like you got stung too. I have 290mm slotted doorstops. R33 rotors (or any skyline/silvia fitment rotors) DO NOT FIT on S2 Rwd stageas as rwd stageas are 49mm offset and skyline/silvia is 54.

I cannot confirm if its the same on 4wd models. I assume the 4wd model fits skyline offset.

i was wondering if someone could actually post up something definate regarding this S2 RWD issue. i have completly no idea if you guys are talking about the rear or front brakes.

im sure i have been told that R34 and or R33 rear calipers and discs are a straight swap but the problem appears to be with the front brake set up.

i was just wndering if anybody had tried to change the complete hub caliper and disc assembly from a 33. something must be different to cause the difference in offset

are all you guys only changing rotors and keeping your stag calipers

my car cam factory with the 280mm front rotors and some small rotor in the rear with a crap single spot maxima style calliper

when i did my brake upgrade i changed the whole lot rotor and calliper

you brake mounting points would be the same as most of your uprights and so on would be very similar

now ive also completed a 5 stud conversion and have used RS4 Stagea front hubs and R33 gtst rear hubs the R33 gtst rotors and callipers all round the rotor has no problem fitting in the standard dust backing plate from memory mine are still on the car

if your going to change rotor you must change calliper and 1 one of the quesions are the GTSt calliper that good YES and they ARE 4 spot

I fitted a brake master cylinder stopper this week.

Bolts to the chassis underneath the engine sway bar, and a bolt with big round end sits Hard against the master cylinder

stops any flex thru the chassis under brake load.

ie

normal braking the master cylinder will move under pressure

install the stopper, and under braking the bmc cant move, no flex

means you get better peddle feel

hopefully less fade too

so, Maltech braided lines front and rear, Bendix advance front heavyduty rear pads, front Dba slotted rotors, brake master cylinder stopper

works Very Well

Yep, sure did... I can confirm that the R33 rotors DO NOT FIT 4wd stageas either.

For the record, for those confused... I am talking about stagea 4WD, series 2, front rotors... the R33 rotors *do not fit* here.
