Do the brake swap it takes so much hassle out of having to replace brake parts. R33 GTST Calipers all around and rotors, from what I here there is bugger all difference in going to Brembos in terms of braking performance as they are still only 4 pot and 2 pot and the piston sizes are almost equivalent to the sumitumo calipers. The major difference with Brembos is you can fit a larger disk on the fronts but if this is really an issue for you then Unique Auto Sports offer a large front disk conversioon kit for R33 GTST calipers which allows you to run a 350mm disk which is bigger than GTR brembos can run anyways. I think you can get this kit for around $700 which includes caliper brackets and new DBA rotors plus the price of calipers maybe a couple of hundred bucks from a wrecker. Anyways on a final note I have a full set of S2 Stagea Disks / calipers and pads sitting in my garage from my conversion they are still almost mint so if anyones interested then pm me.

So, ryan1600 would i be right in saying that 33 gtr and gtst calipers are the same? and if i were to buy the calipers and get some slotted rotors to suit, would they just be as easy as taking off my old rotors and calipers, then putting on new said calipers and rotors?

... i heard dba make gold slotted and dimpled rotors for 33's.... would look pretty sweet on my car :P (not to mention the braking upgrade)

i dont know...

s14, z32, R32 GTR and R33 GTST calipers are the same

R33 GTR calipers are Brembos

R34GTR are also Brembos

nah, Z32 front calipers are the same as R32 GTST. unsure of Z32 rears.

R32 GTR (non v-spec i believe) and R33 GTST are the same front. sumitumo calipers

R32 GTST, R32 GTR (non v-spec) and R33 GTST rears are the same.

R32 GTR V-specs are the Brembos, larger rotors.

all four spots fronts and 2 spot rears.

BKC34 have a read back a few pages. there is a few things mentioned that you need to alter to fit R33 calipers on.

the best thing about the 32 gtr / 33 gtst brake setups are they

bolt straight on

much bigger than stock

cheap pads and plenty of choices

cheap discs dba/rda etc

setup around 500 to buy

It might cost more compared to a single replacement of pads and rotors for the standard stagea brakes, but by the time you get to the 2nd or 3rd change it will be much cheaper. and your car will stop much better in the meantime

standard booster/master/lines okay?

yeah i used standard master, the 4 pistons are each much smaller than the 1 large standard one, I am not sure of the exact difference but I don't have a front/rear bias issues.

I re-used the front lines with the fitting inside the caliper removed - darrin covered this above. I also used the M12 bolts from 32 gtr with a small sleeve to match the 14mm diameter of the stagea hub. but that was it.

Don't you mean '2' standard ones? The fronts are twin-sliding aren't they?

(It's late & I can't remember...)

Hmm wonder if R34GTS-T rotors have the right offset and could be machined down? Would be a bit of a waste of diameter... but they are now available in the RDA group buy

you could get a fair idea by pulling off one of your rotors and sizing it up. then go on the DBA website and start checking the sizing of the stagea rotor to some of the other nissan rotors, maybe even toyota or ford, some of them run the same PCD as nissan.

yep, fronts are twin, rear is single.

So if this is true, then wouldnt an upgrade of 33gtst/gtr calipers and slotted rotors on the front, and swapping your standard 2 pot front calipers onto the back with some slotted rotors, be a really good braking system upgrade, but for not a hell of a lot of money?

i wouldn't bother, just looking at the size of the front calipers (slightly bigger then the front R33 ones) you'd probably run into a fitment issue trying to put them on the rear, with bolt hole centers, rotor offest may be off even if you put the front rotor on the rear. also, and i'm not sure about this, but it may cause issues with brake bias.

a couple of R33/R32 rear calipers aren't to expensive, and at least you know they are designed to be a rear caliper.

yeh thats fair enough, i wasn't aware there was bias' with the front and rear calipers, but yeh that does make sense tho :)

so probably a full set of 33 calipers and some nice slotted rotors to suit i think would be a decent braking upgrade, and some good pads too of course :(

so will the r32/33 four spots fit m35 ??? :)

i'm sure you could get them to fit, just how much work would be involved is another thing. what do the M35's have standard?

do you think there might be a better match/upgrade with something off the V series skylines?

    • Sadly we have something in common, our Skyline's like blowing up electrically 😢
    • So, no videos, but, the FAB9 Elite manifold and 68mm Bosch throttle bodies are in stock, but, not the rear part of the air box The FAB9 rear airbox thingie is made with a 3" intake pipe, to suit the 3" intake pipe size of a 68mm throttle body  When they get some more in stock is currently unknown as I'm waiting for FAB9 to reply with a ETA on resupply, my assumption is they outsource their plastic printing stuff to "china", and with the current "tariff war" going on in 'Merica it could be on hold for an undisclosed time Should I pull the pin on the Intake and throttle body, and wait for the airbox?????, that's what I'm thinking... 1. Would the standard 2.75" OEM intake on the air box really be that much of a restriction compared to the 3" naturally aspirated?????? 2. If I don't get the 3" FAB9 airbox fitted at the same time as the intake and throttle body will it need a retune, when/if it eventually turns up?????? As I'm impulsive, to a fault, decisions will be made within....."what's the time now"???....let's say 12 hours......LOL
    • yeah its just so expensive nowadays and its easy to lose motivation very quickly when you start adding up the costs. I acquired the car from a collector in Melbourne and was lucky to get the opportunity to buy something already completed.  I looked at a proper resto and your paying over 300-400K for a proper one (nut and bolt) so this one to me seemed like a much better option! Car is in private storage and for serious buyers, welcome to come see it/drive it in person (photos don't do it justice).
    • nice to see a proper resto, instead of the usual half arsed attempts where the owners wont even replace crappy floor mats
    • Aw man, I was in Belgium earlier this month in Brussels and Bruges. Would've been awesome to see a Skyline all the way over there! I did load up on Tintin merch though  Welcome!
