Anyone who has a Series 2 RS4V that has gone to R34GTT front calipers and discs, what did you think of pedal feel etc afterwards?

I'm thinking of upgrading my brakes but to be honest I find that they are pretty good as standard and if anything they feel better than my old R34GTT and that had decent road pads and a brake stopper.

I'd just like an honest and objective opinion please. I know there has been a lot said about what fits various models, but I can't find much actual feedback on the results. I'm aware that it's human nature do an "upgrade" and convince yourself it's better, but is there any real evidence to show that ?

Summer is coming over here (hopefully) and I will be driving harder and faster and I want to make sure my brakes are up to it.

dunno about pedal feel, but for future reference:

the bolts that old the s2 callipers on have a 22mm head and are on pretty tight so make sure you've got a breaker bar or something

also, 33 brakes deff dont fit on series 2's

got sold a combo of 34 rotors and 33 callipers :) did't check the bolts when i picked them up - error

as for pads, for a slight upgrade i heard the qfm hpx's are awesome - good bite and all that with very little dust

or up from that the qfm ar1m but they can chew through rotors (much more aggressive pad) but works really well

you can get the R33 fronts to bolt up with very little modification. its been covered a few times in this thread. but if your after a no mucking around direct bolt on for the S2 the R34GTT's are the go.

DeanR33, you wont really feel too much difference in braking just putting around town doing light to moderate braking. when you will notice the difference is pulling up in a hurry, and after doing some hard braking for a little while i.e "spirited driving". the stock stagea brakes suffer from bad brake fade IMO.

yeah sorry, should have said not a direct bolt up

cant wait to get them sorted tho, current rotors are a bit warped so its just annoying, engine braking makes it better tho - thank got i got one with an extra pedal

what is the general consensus with the banjo bolts? pull out the "olive" or chop the banjo down?

With the GTT ones I had to do both - pulled out the olive and then cut a few threads off the bolt.

mad, or find some 34 brake lines?

the banjo's i got with the calipers have been cut down a bit so i'll use those i think

Hey have a look at Unique Autosports Stage 1 kit. It comes with dog bones for R33 Calipers and 324mm dba discs for $795. If I had known about this I would have got these when I did my brake conversion (Rebuilt R33 Calipers F&R and RDA slotted rotors all around). That setup would be way better than GTT fronts as you will be running bigger disks e.g. 324mm as opposed to 310mm GTT. You may even be able to order the dog bones custom drilled which would make fitting on S2 Stageas simple.

I had one of those kits that someone was bringing in from China for Nissans but I couldn't make it fit the S1 awd Stagea

so unless it specifies its for a stagea see if you can get it to bolt up before you buy.

If you mean the ksport/d2/g4 8 piston 330mm rotor sets, that is what I have one my S1 and there were no problems bolting it up except the m12 bolts instead of m14 bolts. I used a 32 GTR kit.

The 34 stagea mounting points are the same as 33/34 skyline and a whole bunch of other nissans. And the only difference to r32/s14/s15 etc is the bolt size.

35 on the other hand seems to have a different disc offset like z33 and v35.

No I mean those brackets that enable you to offset your own calipers (or GTT ones in my case) to take advantage of bigger diameter rotors. It is not the hole centres but other aspects of the Stagea assembly that got in the way.

There are two kinds - the ones referred to as dog bones becasue they look like that and which move the whole caliper out or the kinds that just tilt the caliper. i have not been able to find ones that fit the S1 Stagea so make sure you have a money back guarantee that they will fit S1 Stagea.

Put up a link to your source and I will try to check them out although I don't have my Stagea atm as its in the workshop.

I have put the question on trade Me. The problem is that there are things which get in the way when trying to bolt the bracket on. Despite destroying a set of brackets with an angle grinde i couldn't get them to fit. I wasn't game to take to the suspension with the angle grinder.

The ones I am interested in are here http://www.uniqueautosports.com under the braking section. They are the Stage 1 Brake Upgrade Kit for Skylines. I would be keen to know if anyone has tried them .

Cheers

I didn't see any braking section. Can you give us a link directly to the page?

I askeed about costs for the adapter only.

better off getting the whole kit.

this is another set I found while searching

https://www533.ssldomain.com/conceptzperformance

can get the adapter seperate for $175us plus ~$90 postage

Ebay Purchase:

Front: DB1250-35.55

Rear: DB1144-35.55

Ultra Cheap Auto

(02) 6563 1100

I got a full set of brakes which fit and seem to work perfectly. I'm not sure about brake dust generated by them. They do look cheap, but then, they were inexpensive. They stop the care well though and no squeal so far.

BTW, I have an RS4 Stagea: Model as follows: E-WGNC34

Chassis: WGNC34-010233

model TGKNREAC43UDA-BACA

Hi Troops,

Im finally going to complete my brake upgrade and plan on doing the rear brakes.

Just need to Confirm;

- That all R32 GTS-T,R33 GTS-T,R34 GTT Rear Calipers + Rotors are 100% the same? As I tracked some cheap R32 rears down.

- Will I need to change the Master Cylinder, to accommodate the extra capacity of more pistons? Ive read a few people have, a few people havn't. Im considering not changing it if theres no real need to.

Thanks, Aerron
