Bris I wouldnt shave them, they come back like a gorilla which is not a good look unless you want a career in the circus.

That sounds like a plan James. I am not 100% sure of the route they take past mornington which would be good.

Cool.

Shall we say Sat 17th - 8.30am at Catani Gardens in St Kilda?

We can come down Beach Rd and meet you at your place Saff - and head to Portsea for lunch.

We'll need 2x cars for support crew - who can be convinced?

that date sounds good James. Are you talking about cycling down from St Kilda to mine or driving? Doesnt bother me if you are driving but cant have you guys getting in extra KM's than me!

Might just have to cycle out to meet you all then cycle back past!

Latest update following yesterdays group training ride.

Went over to Williamstown on the punt and had a coffee before coming back via Docklands and St Kilda. Fantastic weather and good effort by all. I cannot however comment on the shenanigans below! ;)

Why is James wearing boots?

I would also like to know this :P

James doesnt have access to this site anymore as it seems the IT dept blocked him hence his lack of explanations

Ah - top training effort team!

All those international cyclists injecting horse tranqs into (one of) their c*cks have nothing on our good Aussie carb-loading styles.

We put out a combined 160km - and put in about 160L of carbs.

We rock!

Bass: It was my audition for the next Jessica Simpson video clip.

I'll show you the photos where I wash the General Lee tomorrow :P

Was top day. You all missed out.

I spoke to a man who has 2 penis's (penii?) - quite possibly the most interesting total stranger ever. This is what cycling is all about!

OK - for training round 2...

It is about 80km to Bittern, or Stoney Point (HMAS Cerberus).

There is a ferry to Cowes.

I'll find out what times it goes and all that sort of stuff.

Will be about a 4hr ride. Easy as sucking beers in the sun.

We WILL need Team Wang support at the other end to get the bikes and riders home. Will pop a post into the PI thread to see if anyone is going down in a tow-capable vehicle. Otherwise - someone can drive Boris down with the bike-rack on.

Go team!

OK - Ferry is at 5.00pm. Costs $13 (one-way including bike)

http://www.interislandferries.com.au/pi_costs.php

Whereis.com says from St Kilda to Crib Point is about 65km (using Nepean Hwy).

Too easy!

I say we leave St Kilda at 12.00pm - and we'll be in Cowes in time for Snowy to have cooked us dinner! Any other starters?

post-936-1127125569.gif

They only have 1 ferry all day? 15kph is quite a reasonable rate to be going and not taking into account any mechanical/alcohol/burger stops. How far is it the other side as well?

Ferry is at 8.00am, 12-noon and 5.00pm

Trip across is 30mins

It takes about 2 hours to get to Frankston - and that's over half way.

If there is an emergency - the train station is right there, so we have an escape plan :D

What about if we comute down to snowies place and leave from there all the way to the island. It's 103km Too much I guess. Lets go with Plan A.

But now I have to get to St.Kilda on my way to phillip island. seems silly.

Cycle :O

I say we leave 6am Sat morning, get the 12pm ferry, then get back accross at 5pm so i can get my flight to Sydney...how does that sit with you guys

Sounds like a great idea but as for you being up the right side of 9am, that could put the plan into self destruct mode

I am happy to leave at 6am, see what J and C want to do. B)

Since this whole malformed idea was mine - I'm hearing the words of a great scholar of our time ringing in my ears:

"Son, your ego's writing cheques your body can't cash"

Team A (Saff and I) just cashed in almost 200km of those cheques by riding to Philip Island yesterday, and returning today. Hard work. I need a new ass.

Team B (Bris and Chris) transported their bikes and a large photocopier to PI and punched out a big cycle circuit from Woolami to Cowes and back. Not quite as hardcore, but they are less fluro than Team A, and Bris had a flat.

Our backup coach sat on the couch watching footy and barking orders all day :P

With 3-weeks to go until D-Day - my current assessment is that we're f*cked. 210km in about 11hrs is a loooong, hard road to glory. But - there have been great strides in modern medicine in the last few years, so perhaps I can get a J-Lo style ass-transplant in time.

I'll post some photos - but they're all business, and nowhere near as exciting as last week. There were more hills too.

On the up side - I saw a Lancia Montecarlo and a Rarri 575 rag on the way home. Sweet.

    • I’m doing some side developments on SR20det S13 engines, its one my hobby cars used it to compare flow capacity of some smaller size wheels. SR20det is one of another JDM legendary engines I'm sure there are plenty of SR enthusiasts on this forum, I will share results some common turbo configurations here. a quick run down of what the car is: Wide body 180sx Type X with black top engine (blue). It has: Stock bottom end Haltech 1500 ECU 5-0 motorsports trigger kit Kelford SR20DET Beehive Spring with Titanium Retainers Kelford Cams SR20DET S13 188-B 268/272 Cams G25-660 Turbocharger in T2 .64 rear housing internally gated ARP Head studs MLS head gasket 1000CC ID injectors Walbro 450L Fuel pump Front mount cooler kit JJR’s 3 inches turbo back exhaust (its too short for the 180sx it had to be extended) Pump 98 fuel Hub Dyno tune So far made 270rwkws at 22psi full boost by 4500RPM. Engine is very knock limited hence a pretty bad looking top end. From previous experiences it seems like SR20dets are happier with bigger size turbine, some thing like a GT30 would make way better top end, but on same time response is lost. It won't be a problem with S15 VCT engines. I'll be testing alternative turbine housing, turbine wheel and possibly dump pipe options for extra flow to resolve the problem and of course E85 would resolve all the issues.
    • Awesome writeup and details. Thanks for sharing the story so far. I can relate to parts of it with my previous car and some of the issues I had to deal with.
    • Wow the colour matched hard top completely transforms the car. Are there any nice front lip options for the car or is that off the table?
    • Generally yes but for some reason I've been ruthless this time around!  I might even need to do another tip run after the way I've finally been able to hit the delete button on shit I've stepped over, stepped around and tripped over for the past 10 years!
    • I just quote the Rolling Stones. Paint it black.
