That's right people, Duncan Handley took P3 in his first race in the nsw Combined Touring championship. I'll leave it to him to post up the details, but i just wanted to say congratulations mate. I am so happy for you and Kel. You certainly raised a few eyebrows in the paddock mate. well done.

w00t I had a fun day today and about farking time too :(

I qualified 6th of 40 cars sort of feeling my way into it, got a great start and went into the first corner in 3rd. I commonwhore snuck inside me in turn 7 but I gave it a bit of over and under and while he was hanging the tail out I snuck back thru, 2 wide over the dogleg eek!

Anyway from there it went pretty well, I was really pressuring the gtr in second but I started to run out of fuel about 2 laps from the end and had to back off :(

Home 3rd, and had the second fastest lap.

Hopefully I will have some more luck in the final 2 races tomorrow. :(

HGE thanks to Neil, Kel and Richard

Nice work Dunc, put some more fuel in it for tomorrow.  We use 2 litres per lap, plus 5 litres for luck.

Hey Sydneykid you messin with my mind,,,what is your base level to start with?.

Neil.

hmmm well today ended with mixed luck, no fuel surge this time, ran with a full tank both times rofl, I'll have to work out how to keep the fuel on the right of the tank in that looooong left hander

I bogged the start of race 2 and went backwards from 3 to 5, got stuck behind a mobile roadblock M3. And worst of all in the first lap a commodore took a hit and parked on the track in the corner where the GTR had the most advantage so I couldn't get past with the yellow flags :)

Race 3....well the start was OK back to 3rd again, but the lunatic that drove the M3 turned in on me in turn 1, just missed him ;) .....first race weekend I have *ever* come back with no panel damage. Next time I'll stay in there and take the hit tho.

However half a lap later the tail came out a mile for no particular reason, then again on the next corner  I pitted in and we found that the coolant had all got out which is bad. Engine still runs fine so its not cooked but I needed a tow home :(

Hge thanks to Kel, Neil, Scott, Beer Baron engineering for the help! all in all it was a great weekend :P

Bad luck Duncan.... Do you know where the coolant escaped from? Radiator, hoses or heater hose? Did you drive the car to the track mate? Good on ya mate.

Ian

Unfortunately we are not sure yet. It was the back of the engine and probably not a heater hose which may not be good news :) Will check it out next weekend......its time for a beer now

Yeah we drive to the track :) Shame I didn't get to drive back :(

Top work mate:thumbsup:

Must have been great to be finally out there giving the old girl some stick...fingers crossed its just the heater hose in the firewall or the heater core itself, supply lien for the turbs ?? If the thing wasnt running hot/overheating then it it may just be one of those small little things...

Again, good to see you back out there carving it up:)

yeah we are thinking maybe heater hose or welsh plug?

I must say duncan had a top weekend and did some excellent steering. He certainly raised some eyebrows around the paddock that's for sure.

haha Beer Baron engineering! I will have the decals for the next meet!!

I am really looking forward to the next round. we will not be racing as rob wants to take a break, but i may come down with you guys anyway.

Congratulations Duncan you should be very pleased.

Hey Gary can we swap cars and garages one weekend for a bit of fun? lol.  Unless it really is stuffed I'll be down at Wakefield last weekend of August

You would have to ask Dave or Phil (drivers) or Mr B, he owns the team. Waste of your valuable time asking me:cheers:

PS; you are doing pretty well, you and the guys should be proud. NSW State Championship racing is not easy.

Hey Sydneykid you messin with my mind,,,what is your base level to start with?.

Neil.

Simple stuff, after every race we drain the tank. At Oran Park, say it's a 15 lap race, plus one warm up lap and one cool down lap, we put in 34 litres plus 5 litres for luck. All of our cars have surge tanks with lift pump. Then we drain the tank after that race and see how much we had left. If it's more than 5 litres then we reduce it based on how much we used every lap.

You don't want to carry any more fuel than is absolutely necessary, we lost race at Sandown last week by 4/100ths of a second. How much would I hate myself if we put 5 litres too much in and slowed the car down by 1/100th of second per lap for 12 laps.
