I wouldn't be happy if i had imported an 89 R32GTR.

For the same price u can now get a 92-94 GTR. I think

this is because:

A) Exchange rate is about 85jpy per AUD

B) Reduced demand for R32GTR has reduced prices

C) Compliance is now fairly affordable

Lots of 89/90 GTR's on carsales seem to be having

trouble selling...only the very good ones/rebuilt ones

should be commanding mid 20's now.

I would have to borrow $50k from the bank and I wouldn't

want to run the risk. The import market is depressed

anyway. I reakon the lucky to make $6k on that. Rather invest

in a live in house or bluechip.

But that R32GTR track car is definately at the back of my mind.

I only just got the GTT thou, I've been too flagrant with cars as

it is the last few years.

Maybe u shud sell that GTST and get a GTR now Gordon? Just

budget for a rebuild though! Be interesting to see how these

GTR's go in the next few months...

As people were told buy the bargain GTR and you will be ahead as SEVS/RAWS is a rip off and they will never be so cheap, 1,000,000 89/90 cars are now costing 300,000 yen max.

A quick look of grade 4 and 4.5 1993 GTR's with under 90,000 klm down to one with 30,000 klm started at 1,150,000 FOB upto 2,160,000 FOB for the 26,000 and 34,000 klm ones.

Their were more expensive ones of course and they weren't V-Specs but all non accident cars, it was all colours as well.

Do the research and don't jump at a so called bargains is what I say.

On the Brakes I get our buyier to check the pads before leaving and if needed sorts a set as cheaper direct from Japan. It is worth the hassle.

Nigel.

yeah, chuck a set in the back, warfies would be getting desparate to steal a set of brake pads -- clever idea.

lol.. nope.. my perspective now is the same then.. i want something i can thrash to an inch of its life without the cost of expensive component replacements, i want something i don't have to stress about driving to the shops, and can take to the track now and then without too much worry of seriously stuffing the finances for 2 years. Sure it won't be as fast, but there is fun in building something up yourself - even if it is going to be slower.

One day I might get a GTR, but only if I can afford a $10k *proper* engine build at the top of a hat, and the good stuff.. $25k perfromance car, nearing what many would consider to be the reliable age.. which may cost you another $10k just like that.. like anything, no matter how fast it is, you always want it to go faster, handle better, blah. Risky resale.. harder to sell a more expensive (never mind old car).. etc

GTS-T's are easy to work on too.. fair bit of room in the engine bay.. easy to get to things under the engine.. parts are slightly cheaper, more readily available, and I know how most of it fits together.

GTR purists can blast me, but I don't care :)

It is nothing to hide a set of brake pads in the car, lots of little places.

sorry driftt....300,000 max for 89/90 is crap !!!

decent compliable 92/93 are over a million..AND TRY and find NON ACCIDENT 32 at any resonable money ..it would be easier to find saddams WMD`S

I `ve been trying to buy 1 for 8 weeks..there either crap or expensive

so anyone who bought a 89/90 enjoy it

Fist I will say I was wrong on the prices of 89 GTR's it is more like 450,000 to 500,000 for shitters and I looked at 1992's and on 6 months worth that cant come in so it gave an un-true average price.

The 300,000 R32's are the ones in the old days that were used as half cuts but people were told storys as to how good they were and no auction reports showing their damage.

for a 93/94 I would look at paying 1.4 to 1.5 plus for a good one, even at that price it wont be a V-Spec.

1 million yen ones are 80,000 to 100,000 klm 4 or 3.5 B/C's and you might see 4 or 5 good one's over 3 months.

In the last three months a couple of nice ones that I would buy as a personal car were sold but they were not cheap.

1993 20,000 klm GTR 4.5 A was 2,500,000 car cost.

1994 V-Spec 23,000 klm GTR 4.5 A was 3,700,000 car cost.

1994 33,000 klm GTR 4 B was 1,500,000 car cost.

1993 32,000 klm GTR 4 A was 2,200,000 car cost.

1994 15,000 klm GTR 4.5 A was 2,900,000 car cost.

1994 30,000 klm GTR 4 B was 2, 050,000 car cost.
