I have a near standard R32 GTST.

it has a K&N pod filter and a SARD R2D2 BOV and what looks like a BRAKE cylinder bracket.

Everything else is standard including the exhaust.

I will be changing that in the future but for now, I would like to get rid of the standard cooler.

Can anyone recommend (from experience) a good upgrade?

I don't want to be spending too much and nor do I want to cut up the standard front bar too much.

It's a big ass apexi GT core bar and plate front mount, not the crossover one either, as new condition... Should contact him anyways, I reckon it'd be perfect for RB20 or RB25, huge flow capacity.

my cooler is a custom made one 500 X 280 X76 thats the size cooler most of the japanese use on there cars up to 450 -500 hp

and my front bar which is stock wasn't cut it still has the louvers the main reason for that is the height of the cooler

cheers

Thanks for the pics Meggala.

I might look at something of that size.

When you put that cooler on, did you see an increase in boost?

I've heard that this happens on these cars cause the standard cooler is really restrictive, and once a large cooler is on, the boost has been seen to increase without any other mods.

GTSt - My friends selling his under a grand, it's an APEXi GT Cooler, about the same size, maybe slightly larger. Call David on 0421 058 259, get got a fair bit of polished stainless piping that goeas with it, most of it would be suitable for your application.

I already sent an email to that guy that you mentioned.

Is it the same person?

I haven't heard anything back from him yet.

Can you please get him to check his email.

thanks.

Make sure he knows that I can actually get one new (not apexi) for about $600 so if he wants more than that, then I won't worry about it.

Thanks.

MEGGALA - thanks.

I'm currently seeing about 10-psi in cold weather with just the pod filter as the mod. Standard cooler and exhaust.

500 wide by 220 tall by 75 thick??

It looked heaps taller than 220 by those pics.

Dude, where are you located? did you supply and fit that cooler to your friends car? or did he supply it and you just fitted it for him?

Best bet is to call him on 0421058259... This intercooler is absolutely superb construction, and as new. It would have almost no pressure drop and be extremely efficient. I would've bought it if I didn't have a big Trust FMIC already. He's got heaps of people interested, but I think first to get to him with cash in hand would buy it!

Gtst

He supplied the cooler and I fit it. It was a nasty little cooler that had some very serious design defects so I made him take it back and get it fixed. I only use ARE intercoolers from Brisbane as they are about the best in Australia and don't cost that much.

ARE sell kits for the gtst as well with all piping but will cost you close to 2k with everything.

I've only recently had my FMIC fitted.

Tim @ RPM Performance fitted it, Very neat and tidy.

Yes I have noticed an increase in boost when on low boost with the new fmic. It also pulls harder in the top gears where the std ic would have got heatsoaked.

More consistent power and well with the boost up it goes heaps better especially in the mid. (Probably due to std small turbo)

The Std. Airbox with no cold air intake seemed to cap the top end performance, sooo i put a cold air intake in.

Here's a link anyhow to RPM's Site there is a couple of pics there.

I am going to get the Digital Camera this weekend and take a few Pictures.. :)

I'll post them.

Do you have a link or a phone number for where he got it from? I like the design of those end tanks...

Are they preasure tested before they are shipped off?

Also you mentioned that you made him return it, what was the problem?

Thanks

    • Nope, but they are definitely one of the default choices. Well established.

    • Haha actually I did join back then under a different email address,  I couldn't re-activate my account so made a new one! I didn't post much anyway so not missing out on much. Amazing to see how the value of the cars and parts has changed over the years, also ACT section appears to be dead now.
    • Thanks... It's in pretty good condition overall, probably due to not being drifted/tuned however being a daily driver has taken its toll. Had 100k on the clock when I got it, up to 180k now. Unfortunately it's not 100% dent free, it's got a small dent on FLH side and broken indicator from where I hit a small kangaroo at high speed. If you look at closely at pic #5 you might spot the dodgy trailer light repair my old man and I rigged up as temporary repair! - It's still there due to a combo of needing the car as daily driver and then too lazy/busy to fix properly. I've a couple of other minor accidents accidents as well but nothing major. One required a new front bar and unfortunately the smash repairer ordered the normal gtst one and not the aero bar. Needed the car back asap so just went with it, regretted ever since.
    • I can't believe that anyone is foolish enough to believe that the base maps are for any other purpose than to drive the car up onto the trailer/truck or gently creep it to the dyno. No matter how good they are, they can never be any better than the factory maps**, and only the foolish trust those on a significantly modified setup. **Yeah, yeah. I know there's also the difference between factory maps being fixed to certain injector sizes and MAP/AFM/VE relationships, and the likely aftermarket ECU base maps being better able to handle the sorts of changes that would render a stock ECU dangerous, like different sized injectors. But let's just ignore that for the moment, because the principle is still the same.
