I was trying to be generous, Andrew <_<

Yes Paul, I think it's time I updated it - Will do it now actually. Might make it something contentious like,

"Who needs AWD, Two Turbos and engine work to run 11.685???"

Fatz you forgot to mention that it also has a high mount turbo kit, upgraded cams, RB25 head, fully stripped and was running on slicks damn if it couldn't do 12's he should shoot himself

i would love to be in year ten at an all girls school...sign me up. actually better make it year 11.

Paul, I have raced my car before on the track although not in it's current state of tune. I must admit that if someone asks what times we have run i will say the car's fastest time regardless of who drove. The thought has never entered my head to make people believe that it was me driving, i have just never thought of it that way. I'm not in this to take any records or anything i just want to build a quick street car. Personally it doesn't matter to me who drove the car to what time i only care about what the time slip says at the end. Other people may feel differently to me but that's the way it is.

You guys will not be aware but i have coped alot of flack from numerous people about this car and i am sick of it, all i want to do is get it to the times i'm happy with and it will never see the track again, the sooner the better for me. Brad constantly tries to get me in to drive it myself but i must say i really don't care.

If people have misunderstood i apologise, hopefully it is more clear now  :P

what flack?! i am honestly surprised you were not out there! especially with the way brad goes on! I remember when he first started posting.. he repeatedly said the car was yours.. all credit goes to you as owner and driver.. he just did the mechanical work.. it was like he had a disclaimer at the end of each post!! and then with him going on about the 'ladies' having their own run, i was sure he was going to get you and stace to line up.. but nothing! its fine if you don't drive the car... all it takes is one change in what you say... 'the car did..' instead of 'i did..'....

and you're right.. it isn't a female dominated sport... but stacy has already pulled the spotlight towards her direction and has already done alot to promote females in this area... it DOES NOT help when someone comes along and has the attitutde that the lil girls can go play in that corner while the men have their sport... thats a great way of showing support! :\ and whether or not, thats what he meant, thats how i took it...

hey fatz!!!! i'm ready to enrol in one of your drift days! ;) maybe not your next one, the one after! (do you know when that will be?) :) hopefully i'll get a discount! :)

nice pics Andrew!

doughboy: I'm missing those danish's now LOL

mona: you have to show me how to do a burn out

what danishs!?!?!?!?! there were danishs!!!!! nooo!!!! all i had was a hotdog bun and sauce!! ;)

hahaha... got smoke?!

"Girls are weak...chuck em in th......."

What'd I miss? Stace? Mona?

Anyway...

The two WOMEN who raced at the drag day on Sunday have taken well over $5500.00 in prizemoney between them at drag racing events over the last 18 months and that deserves restec-p of the highest order. :)

They are two of the most well-seasoned drag racers that SAU has the honour of calling members and should be regarded as such.

I don't think people give them enough credit - in particular regard to the skills they have developed.

For instance, Mona. How the HELL do you cut sub .020 lights every other time?!?! It's got me beaten. ;)

Everyone have a good hard look at who the REAL racers are on this forum and in this club and then, if you're nice about it, draw from their experience. I'd like to.

Adrian

I want to give those reaction times a go next time I go to WSID. I cracked three 0.0** RT's within a patch of 5 runs on the weekend which I was stoked about considering I'd never even got a 0.1 RT before :)

(I'm sure the 15+ runs I had earlier in the day helped a little though ;) )

0.020 lights? Maybe Mona should come along to a Wednesday night street meet where they have prizemoney for the top three best reaction times for the night.

Yeah i think that is some of the prizemoney 2rismo is refering to

Ummmm........ See above for Paul's response.

When did Stacey win money at a Wednesday night street meet? Sorry, I've been away for a couple of months and may have missed it. ;)

    • The engine stuff is Greg Autism to the Max. I contacted Tony Mamo previously from AFR who went off to make his own company to further refine AFR heads. He is a wizard in US LS world. Pretty much the best person on earth who will sell you things he's done weird wizard magic to. The cam spec is not too different. I have a 232/234 .600/603 lift, 114LSA cam currently. The new one is 227/233 .638 .634. The 1.8 ratio roller rockers will effectively push this cam into the ~.670 range. These also get Mamo'ified to be drilled out and tapped to use a 10mm bolt over an 8mm for better stability. This is what lead to the cam being specced. The plan is to run it to 6800. (6600 currently). The Johnson lifters are to maintain proper lift at heavy use which is something the LS7's supposedly fail at and lose a bit of pressure, robbing you of lift at higher RPM. Hollow stem valves for better, well everything, Valve train control. I dunno. Hollow is better. The valves are also not on a standard valve angle. Compression ratio is going from 10.6 to 11.3. The cam is smaller, but also not really... The cam was specced when I generated a chart where I counted the frames of a lap video I had and noted how much of the time in % I spent at what RPM while on track at Sandown. The current cam/heads are a bit mismatched, the standard LS1 heads are the restriction to power, which is why everyone CNC's them to get a pretty solid improvement. Most of the difference between LS1->LS2->LS3 is really just better stock heads. The current cam is falling over about 600rpm earlier than it 'should' given the rest of my current setup. CNC'ing heads closes the gap with regards to heads. Aftermarket heads eliminate the gap and go further. The MMS heads go even further than that, and the heads I have in the box could quite easily be bolted to a 7.0 427ci or 454 and not be any restriction at all. Tony Mamo previously worked with AFR, designed new heads from scratch then eventually founded his own business. There he takes the AFR items and performs further wizardry, CNC'ing them and then manually porting the result. He also ports the FAST102 composite manifold: Before and after There's also an improved racing crank scraper and windage tray. Helps to keep oil in the pan. Supposedly gains 2% power. Tony also ports Melling oil pumps, so you get more oil pressure down low at idle, and the same as what you want up top thanks to a suitable relief spring. There's also the timing chain kit with a Torrington bearing to make sure the cam doesn't have any thrust. Yes I'll post a before and after when it all eventually goes together. It'll probably make 2kw more than a setup that would be $15,000 cheaper :p
    • Because the cars wheels are on blocks, you slide under the car.   Pretty much all the bolts you touched should have been put in, but not fully torque up.   Back them off a turn or two, and then tighten them up from under the car with the wheels sitting on the blocks holding car up in the air.
    • Yes. Imagine you have the car on the ground, and you mine away all the ground under and around it, except for the area directly under each individual wheel. That's exactly how it'd look, except the ground will be what ever you make the bit under each wheel from
    • Yes, if you set the "height" right so that it's basically where it would be when sitting on the wheel. It's actually exactly how I tighten bolts that need to be done that way. However....urethane bushes do NOT need to be done that way. The bush slides on both the inner and outer. It's only rubber bushes that are bonded to the outer that need to be clamped to the crush tube in the "home" position. And my car is so full of sphericals now that I have very few that I need to do properly and I sometimes forget and have to go back and fix it afterwards!
