i'd say 80 - 90% of them are stock that you see on the roads..

most people wouldn't void a warranty on a new car that's already pretty quick as it is..

Point taken, however the guys who are actually keen on dragging are more than likely to be the ones who have the edit. There mentality is that the edit is not easy for the dealers to detect as when something breaks all they do is return the car to the stock tune. Just go to XR6Turbo forum and they have heaps of discussion on this issue.

XR6T. Without a shadow of a doubt. Sucks I know, but we have to admit. Australian car companys are catching up with JAP technology, well maybe not so much catching up. But are putting they're balls on the line to forget about everything they thought they knew about making cars and adopt tried and proven wasys of making peformance cars.

You have to consider the age difference between these two cars. There's at least 6 years difference between production dates.

Fair enough an R33 has an almost bulletproof Driveline and an RB25 just won't die! But it does lack a 2004/5 build date, and that has to account for something.

That and also - middle aged slightly balding men hate to be shown up by 20-something year old guys in a car that's 10 years old..

it's an interesting one though..

be interested to know how many are modified..

That guy Cubes is referring to has the fastest XR6T in Australia. 10.24s down the 1/4 mile.

Hmm i'd like to see that and the Diablo Eater Supra go at it.

Diablo Eater reaches 60ft in 1.63seconds, 1/4 in 10.91seconds on 274/40 Nittos. Impressive numbers, would be amazing to watch.

( Refering to HPI Issue 46 =] )

Interesting... hmm who would win in a drag race?

R33 GT-R vs FPV F6 TYPHOON

XR6 turbo is quicker over the quarter and 0-100 than the TYPHOON and the GT from all the figures ive seen. must be because of its weight advantage XR6T 13.9 GT 14.2 TYPHOON 14. 33 GTR would flog all these cars with low 13's over the quarter in stock form.

he sold the turbo for a v8?? why? didnt like going fast?

he can drive my car if he wants to go fast haha

nah, he just loves V8's....he loved the XR6T but was so happy to get back into a V8, especially a GT. I just have to get used to this tiptronic thing!! Never driven one before!!

Apparently with the latest tests on these Fords, the XR6T has been put in it's place by the F6 and GT. F6 has the updated tune ever since the clutch fix. Some F6 guys on the XR6turbo forum have achieved the 13's now.

Fair enough I must say though I found it interesting that in early tests in both wheels and motor the XR6T times were faster than its more powerful, more expensive brothers. Even the SS with 13.9 quicker than the GT the ford guys would have loved that. I like HSV's better anyway they are still at least a couple of 10th's quicker than anything ford has come out with lately. Falcons are nice but just to heavy.

I've also found the magazines to be very inconsistent. That's why I try not to take them as scripture. Makes good reading to a lot of people I guess.

i am just curious as to why the high performance fordsd are always heavier than the high performance holdens? Fords are around 100-150kg heavier right...

If ford could drop that weight somehow i wonder how their 0-100 acceleration times and 0-400m times would read...

Its because Ford have bigger shells, more equipment, etc plus their engines still use iron cast blocks.

    • By popular demand.. it was a coil. Got my hands on 1 new OEM coil, replaced with the one that made the less noise difference when I unplugged it while the car was running and started the car up. No stutter and the engine light was gone. I guess I’ll buy the other 5 they have lol
    • No, code 21 is very straightforward. It can only be the things described in that diagnostic flow. In fact it has no way of knowing that the spark plug resistance is out of spec.
    • Hi, SteveL Thank you very much for your reply, you seem to be the only person on the net who has come up with a definitive answer for which I am grateful. The "Leak" was more by way of wet bubbles when the pedal was depressed hard by a buddy while trying to gey a decent pedal when bleeding the system having fitted the rebuilt BM50 back in the car, which now makes perfect sense. A bit of a shame having just rebuilt my BM50, I did not touch the proportioning valve side of things, the BM50 was leaking from the primary piston seal and fluid was running down the the Brake booster hence the need to rebuild, I had never noticed any fluid leaking from that hole previously it only started when I refitted it to the car. The brake lines in the photo are "Kunifer" which is a Copper/Nickel alloy brake pipe, but are only the ones I use to bench bleed Master cylinders, they are perfectly legal to use on vehicles here in the UK, however the lines on the car are PVF coated steel. Thanks again for clearing this up for me, a purchase of a new BMC appears to be on the cards, I have been looking at various options in case my BM50 was not repairable and have looked at the HFM BM57 which I understand is manufactured in Australia.
    • Well the install is officially done. Filled with fluid and bled it today, but didn't get a chance to take it on a test drive. I'll throw some final pics of the lines and whatnot but you can definitely install a DMAX rack in an R33 with pretty minor mods. I think the only other thing I had to do that isn't documented here is grind a bit of the larger banjo fitting to get it to clear since the banjos are grouped much tighter on the DMAX rack. Also the dust boots from a R33 do not fit either fyi, so if you end up doing this install for whatever reason you'll need to grab those too. One caveat with buying the S15 dust boots however is that the clamps are too small to fit on the R33 inner tie rod since they're much thicker so keep the old clamps around. The boots also twist a bit when adjusting toe but it's not a big deal. No issues or leaks so far, steering feels good and it looks like there's a bit more lock now than I had before. Getting an alignment on Saturday so I'll see how it feels then but seems like it'll be good to go
