most people who are recommending ritek have u actually tried copying one of the riteks again from the ritek media???

this is where the problems with them arise as i stated... burning to them isnt an issue and neither is playing them... ive been using princos for years now even their CDs before i got a burner but started having issues with them however at least i was able to copy from them again.

that test u did was interesting.... im guessing the higher the rating the better? i know the TDKs i was using were awesome... no issues at all... but they werent printable which makes my printer redundant ;)

inark:

I had a neighbour just drop over 2 Ritek's that he was trying to watch/copy that were both skipping (didn't skip for me on 2 different DVD Players 2wks ago when I first burnt them) and he couldn't copy them either.

I'm re-doing them right now with these Verbatims.

Yes the higher the rating the better. The spikes on the graphs are where you get skips, pauses, etc when watching the movies (or could be the parts that stop them from being duplicated again).

I must have used different RiTEK's maybe?? I burn all of my stuff @ 4x (I have an 8x burner)

All my masters are RiTEK's and ive burnt off them 100s of times :)

Could the burner have anything to do with it?

Yes the burner plays a part in how successful the burn is. Some burners perform well on media that other burners hate. The firmware plays a bigger part in it though as firmware revisions are generally only released as new media becomes available (brand, speed and dye content). Ie v1 of a firmware might be really good at 4x Ritek's but bad at 8x Riteks so they release a v2 to cover that problem. But then Ritek could change the dye chemical content midway through production and v2 could be worse than v1.

You just have to find a media (and model of that media) and stick to it until either you buy a new dvd burner or they stop making that particular media.

My choice! :D

I used to sell these things, I mean alot of them probably about 50000 peices a month easily I can tell u that princo's are not as good a disk as ritek. If you actually analyse the write quality, the riteks will win easily. Make sure you have the latest firmware on your dvd writer. Also note that each writer has different issues with different branded disks. Eg Sony/Liteon (they are the same drive) will be different than NEC/Pioneer (they also are pretty much the same) . Im not too sure which is the best drive right now but 3 months ago I bought a pioneer cause it was the best at that stage. After selling princos, I myself wouldn't use them. I only use riteks cause they are the cheapest high quality stuff out. Also be careful with dodgy media, ie branded riteks that aren't really riteks, grey imports etc. just my opinion.

I believe only 'current stock' is being sold with no more being ordered until the legal stuff is over.

Very interesting, I just ordered 5000 princo 8x -R media.

Will look into Riteks but at this point I have had very little problems with them and all my customers seem very happy.

We are selling the Pioneer, LG and Samsung DVD Writers. (must say Im very happy with the samsung drives! Cheap and seem to do the job very well.)

I'd skip straight past the Ritek (G05's) and go straight to something like TDK/Verbatim/Fuji. I believe Ritek has gone out of business anyhow, not sure how long stock will last (or of another company has bought them out).

Hearing very bad reports about Ritek's (both A grade genuine and other Ritek branded disc's).

Ive had TDK in the past ( DVD+R RW and DVD-R RW and both have failed after about 4 - 5 burns. Havent used the non RW form so will probably give them a try.

Stay clear of LASER I got 500 in ( 10 x 50 pcks ) and had 4 customers complain about more than half not working at all.

hmmmm i use 2 different burners and the riteks all do the same thing... ive just ordered 300 blank TDK printables.... f*k the yum cha brands im getting sick of their dodginess... like everything i spose u get what u pay for ;)

Where are u guys getting RiTEKs from? Ive tried numerous shops in the west side of Melbourne an no more RiTEKS for months, dunno how u guys can still get them now!?!?!

In the meantime, im using RiDATA, probably burnt off a good 5-600 none have failed me yet on 4x Even though i can i dont burn faster than that, just to be safe.

Isnt a good way of telling a good blank from a bad one is the colour of it? The darker the better? Thats what u mean by dye content isnt it Hippy? They did the test for PS2 laser compatibility!?! Princos hurt ur PS2 people!

Whats a cake of 50 TDK worth Narky?

    • Depends how low and tyre size. Should fit with natural camber, skinny tyres and rolled guards.
    • Hi guys, planning to get 18x9 +25 in fronts and 18x10 +25 in rears been reading the whole thread and cant really find anything   Anyone know if these will fit a r34 gtt with no scrubbing or guard work needed?

    • I mean yes, if you're starting from scratch on an unknown engine yes you don't need to be doing all kinds of math in the background but if you're doing relatively minor changes like AFM + injectors + boost up with some aftermarket turbos it takes quite a bit of math if you want to do something like maintain OEM fuel + timing tables but compressed and then a bit more load scale up top. I think I've spent too much time working on big engineering nightmares though so I'm a big fan of trying to constrain the scope of whatever work I'm doing as much as possible and trying to get it right before moving on. For example, a local owner just did the usual E85 + single turbo conversion to his R32 GTR and nearly burned his car to the ground doing some spirited driving up the local mountains. Turbine is unshielded and too close to the hood insulation. It's tough to balance "just get the project done" and "seemingly small details can cause massive setbacks I'm not willing to deal with".
