Well I thougt is was a good question.

WA Police Patrol cars from my undertsnding have standard Holden Crumadores. 6 cylinder. Even the pretty highway patrols car.

They are only allowed to pursue at 140km.

Under cover who knows.

Cheers

No, they are only ensured to give chase to 140km/hr alot of them get a kick out of it and will chase you all the way up to 200km/hr.

If you get in a chase just hope you don't get the old school nugget cops that will chase you till the death. But yes their insurance doesn't cover them past 140.

It was also my understanding that cop cars (VY execs) get a ECU upgrade and stiffer suspension. That's it. Nothing too special.

Having said that i have noticed more and more D's driving other cars, I have been pulled over twice now by TRG coppers in FWD's. I have also seen suited up TRG cops in a small barina, 'times a changing!'

I am in perth btw.

I think it's a great question. I wanna know what NSW coppers have after seeing them take a corner at about 160kmh+ in pursuit that made me shit my pants.. Looked like a great handling car for what I thought was a shitty commo.

well they are better than your average wanna be racer drivers.

they get extensive trainings etc etc

the NSW highwaypatrols get upgraded brakes suspension ECU and few more bit os extras

they also weight 2.5T around..

this is what a cop told me. when i asked him...lol

but we said he couldnt tell what was done to the engine. apparently it's against the rules... B)

No way they're 2.5t he must have been pulling your leg.

I'm not interested about the engine really, I mean we can assume they have go fast stuff on it. I'm more interested about the suspension.

I think the engines prolly put out around 200kw if they are VZ's with a chip. The suspension is what interests me too. From personal experience last night it seems as though it didn't handle too well on back roads - big fast sweepers with a few sharp corners every now and then.. Couldn't cope with them.

2.5 t's sounds a bit excessive too! fark! Its like a landcruiser!

In NSW:

All the commodores have FE2 suspension that have uprated springs and shocks. The motors are STOCK and they all run on 91RON ULP. The Highway patrol cars are SS, the GD's are Executives. They have slight "police only" mods such as interior lighting and the gate on the Auto gearbox are different.

The Falcons are XT's for the GD's and the HP cars are either XR8's or XR6Turbos. The Turbos have the XR8 front springs.

Similar mods to the crumpledores as far as the interior.

The do weigh a HEAP more. With the light bars, radios, riot gear and safety gear I would think they would be close to 2 ton.

Most of them have suspension - mate's got an ex highway used one - has better suspension + used to have a chip - that's out though..

you'll find they are all ecu chipped, better suspension and slightly lower - however that's pretty much about it.. they don't need to be outrageous - the highway ones (SS) commodores are a) damn fast + B) pretty quick so it doesn't matter..

they just boot it and wait until you make a mistake.. considering my skyline is speed limited to 180km/h I wouldn't even consider outrunning them on a highway.. through back streets maybe.. but that's about it..

they've also got pretty good tyres i'd say..

as for how many there are.. alot i'd say.. quite alot..

To my surprise I've seen blue cop rexes patrolling the liverpool area. They look MEAN, as in STI mean. I dont care whats under that bonnet, if that thing pulls me over I'll be on the brakes before they turn their sirens on.

Getting pulled over by a commodore is opposite, its kind of like getting pulled over by a taxi to me, and i'd think of doing an outrun hehe

just kidding of course
