Was taking my girlfriend home to Campsie via Ashfield tonight when there were multiple "incidents".... one from the guys who are meant to keep the roads SAFE, and one from those who become statistics.

Going to Campsie:

Had a cop follow me all the way from the City to Campsie. Full tail gating me and "circling" to find some reason to pull me over. Unfortunately for him, the car is clean so he couldn't. My point here is that what he was doing was dangerous - especially around all the other cars! :(

Going home from Campsie:

Hoons in a Lancer and WRX almost took me off the road! At the lights on Parramatta Road intersection, lights go green and then both the cars screamed forward... didn't think much of it and kept driving. Later on the I caught up with them at another light so they took "offence" and tried to go SIDEWAYS across 2 lanes almost taking my front out! I just hit the brakes and waited till they were well clear - man just wants to get home, not die! :O

Anyone else had incidents lately?

Really? I can't say I felt that people were trying to race me more than usual. But on the other hand I always take off reeeeaaaalllly slow until I see the other person is gunning it. And if I an in the mood then it's free for all. Manu is not from Cherrybrook by any chance?

I get shitty when w@nkers weave in and out of traffic and think they're "racing". From P-platers to company cars, it's all the same. Sitting behind someone 1mm in between doesn't get you anywhere faster. It only provides for a spectacular head to tail shunt and a bruised ego.

the other night, i was going straight, and the light went green for the oncoming traffic too. the bitch turning right from the other side, decides to just go even tho im going thru and almost goes straight into my side of the car

i just stopped there in the middle of the intersection, put my window down, and gave her a few words i hope she remembers.

I had an idiot on a 4 way unsigned intersection that didn't have a clue, thought she was meant to give way to me (she was on my right, I on her left) had my right indicator on and she stops in the MIDDLE of the intersection like I was going straight ahead, even tho I still wouldn't have been able to get past her. idiot.

Had an idiot the other night next to me coming up to the round about in north sydney when you leave the freeway decide to do some emergency swerving while I came up on his left hand side..

he didn't realise that the car coming towards him from the right actually was in a different lane/concrete section separating and decided to pull his steering wheel as far left as he could.. causing me to pull left into the next lane and slam the brakes..

getting this car either makes me a) get past everyone that way if your at the front from the lights you don't have to worry about morons.. or B) not drive when there's plenty of traffic.. even then.. MORONS!!..

so annoying.. to many close calls.. people in sydney are very impatient.. and boy racers in shit boxes drive me up the wall..

I work in North Sydney and live in St Ives and my R32 is my daily driver to and from work and I have crazy stuff happening to me every day. I leave my house at 6:30am and get all the nutter labourers in the utes in the morning. They want to race me and when I don't they pull in front of me at high speed and sit there going 5km slower than the speed limit. It happens everyday.

I also have a serial Porsche boxter looney who tries to kill me like every afternoon. I was at the Fullers road and Pacific highway intersection at Chatswood last week, 1st at the lights in the right lane with him next to me in the left. When the lights went green he took off hard and drove up the middle of both lanes almost taking the front off my car. He drove like that all the way to the Boundry Rd intersection where I kindly asked him why he was driving a chick’s car. Needless to say it only made matters worse and he nearly felt my club lock make contact with his nose.

Now when ever he sees me he goes past me as fast as he can and cuts in front of me.

I have had police wanting to race me from Falcon Street in Crows Nest heading north. They pulled up next to me late one evening and started hard reving. Both the officers were just staring at me and trying to egg me on. I was driving an older gentleman from work home to Artarmon. We had worked late and he was snoozing on the passenger seat which was set back and was not visible to the police. When he sat up and looked out the window the police freaked out, put there siren on and took off.

What happened with manu was idiots in a blue rex wanted to race him on Parramatta rd. He was in the right lane and they were in the left. When he decline they took off, cut him off within like 2feet of his front and slammed on the brakes. He had no where to go as the REX was still 1/2 in the left lane but turn right and brake hard which caused him to loose control of the car, run over the divider, and slide down it sideways, and end up going sideways into oncoming traffic on the wrong side of the road. He is lucky there was no one coming the other way at the time otherwise things could have been a hell of allot worse. If you saw his car at SnS his back right wheel wasn’t sitting straight and it cost him a fair bit of $ to get his suspension fixed. He also lost all the LED's from under his car and has some nasty scratches. Still considering, it could have been a lot worse.

I'm just a tad annoyed at how things are. I have had my skyline for about two months and love it to death. But I feel I need to carry my 12gauge in my car to protect myself and the heap of hard earned money I have invested in it. Also I believe thieves should all be shot. Last week I came home early (about 3pm). I left my car on the street as I was only getting something to eat before going out again. I was inside less than 20minutes and was pulling the front door shut as I was leaving when I heard some one yell "RUN". I looked up and saw 2 guys run from my car. One had been sitting in the gutter trying to get one of my wheels undone. I dropped my shoes (which I hadn’t had time to put on yet) and chased them down the street barefoot. They jumped a fence of a school before I gave up. 10minutes later I was at Bob Jane getting lock nuts. I have a tilt and shock sensor in my alarm but still better to be safe.

Sorry for the rave.

    • It's something we all have to consider as time marches on. Also consider lifted rally MX5 conversion at that point.
    • I should be fine for a few more years, whilst I do have arthritis I also exercise and do mobility training every day to keep as fit and healthy as I can, military life, which is the actual cause of most of my joint issues, has set daily regimes, which I weirdly enjoy I also train alot smarter now, not really focusing on lots strength or puffy muscles, I'm more focused on maintaining what I have for my future older self, I actually train as much mobility now as I do exercising Check out this "simple" drill I have been doing daily prior to training now for a while now, this has worked wonders in my all round mobility
    • I'd say one thing that may make you sell is the same reason the guy with the hard top roof sold his. He got old, and his back was giving him too much grief stopping him getting in and out... Old guy said he was 73! He looked and sounded younger than 73 to me! Or maybe I'm just aligning with old people more...
    • Already looked at a few prior to getting the MX5, really nice car, had all the mod cons, but I wasn't really sold on the new "look" I did miss my 2017 Limited, and I personally prefer the "look" of the older car over the new model, but, when pondering I kept going back looking at MX5's But it was same same for the new ND's, I wasn't sold on the new "look", especially the RF with its weird roof, which only half goes down, like a targa top sort of thing As I stated before, I did look at NC's, but the cars I looked at were PRHT's, but I didn't like their roof line "look" of the PRHT, until I saw the soft top version, (someone on SAU posted a for sale ad for one with a soft top that caught my attention, you can blame them for my choice.....🤣) and.... that old style detachable hard tops were available for them, which keeps the old MX5 more smoother flowing roof line, and the more rounded body style, similar to the NA-NB, to me, the arse end of the ND looks to "modern" Much like how I prefer the NC1 front bar, over the later models How long will I keep this car for is unknown, but currently, there's nothing else out there that "floats my boat" for a small, fun, little "sports car", that I can play with and enjoy looking at and driving But, who knows what the future holds, and going off current new car styling, if I replace it, it will be a older model something something
