ok, start with a n00b question, what does HICAS stand for and what does it control?. Something to do with the steering or 4WD system right!

I asked about this in someone elses thread but noone replied....why does my HICAS light flash on and off randomly and frequently?

I just had new wheels and a wheel alignment done and ever since then its had a problem

always on for a minute or so on start up and then flashes on and off

Grants right. The power steering pump tends to breath a bit out of the top of the reservoir. It doesn't take much loss of fluid to get the light flashing. So have a look & top it right up. Problem should then go away.

If you want a drift look to your engine bay, put a white cotton glove over the top of the reservoir.

also if wheel alignment is out the light will come on

thats what it might be then because when I turn left it comes on and when I am driving straight or turning right it doesn't

but thats only when the car has warmed up tho...

strange :)

isnt it just running a different size tyre on the front and back that drives the hicas crazy on gtrs?

I'll admit i dont know too much about these cars, but i remember reading something in HPI magazine about the light coming on to let you know that the car has activated the HICAS.. definatley could be wrong though since i dont own one

To clear a few things up:

- HICAS light only comes on when there is a problem with the HICAS system

- Sometimes the light will only come on after a period of time driving as that is when the system detects a fault (eg no speed input)

- Tyre size does not affect HICAS (does affect the ATESSA 4WD system though)

Start with doing the HICAS diagnostics, that should spit out a fault code telling you what the problem is. Do a search for how to do this....

Also do a general search for HICAS - problems with it have been discussed many, many times before....
