Falcon XR6T, I have read a number of legitimate rebuttals to your posts:

500hP GTR that won targa??? if that had 500hp then a standard one must have 400?

All that GTR had was a motec ecu, bigger muffler, suspension and roll cage... now that demands respect when you consider the calibre of cars and drivers that they beat (lambo's, porkas).

i think you may have mis-read it mate....twice

sumo said "look out lowndsey"....obvious sarcasm there...

then hungry6 said that even in the hands of a pro, the XR6T was slower than a 350z...he didnt say he was driving the 350z...i think he meant that no one could beat the time they got in a 350z, with an xr6t

At least admit it when you yourself have got the facts wrong, or read the post wrong.

lol the thing is, im a massive ford fan, always have been...but i dont go on a skyline forum saying shit like that...you'd expect the same reaction if you signed up to a ford forum to tell them how good your skyline is, and you'd deserve it, even if you are just stating facts...

the reality is, its a skyline forum, so you're gonna find import enthusiasts...dont stir up shit

Please don't patronise me. You have no idea... If anyone has any more information on a chassis dynamometer than I have already obtained, point me in the way of this phenomenal genius. That was the nicest way to put it, don't you worry about how I've obtained these power figures mate, I assure you I know what I'm doing.  ;)

Well dip shit if you know so much about chassis dynos then you better up your rev limiter to above the 3000rpm you must have it set at now.

Then you can make a power figure to match your your "torque figure"

You must be thick man! The figire on your dyno sheet is tractive effort. Related to but nothing like your engine torque you clown. I can only guess from your figures you've had it on an engine dyno with a 3k rev limit. Imagine the power mate if you let it rev. Do the sums you'll be impressed!!

I have no problem saying this Ford Falcon is a good car... if it is.. I havn't seen any proof yet.. on paper its not all that great..

high displacement turbo, heavy.. give me some proof and i will give some respect. I won't turn it down just cause its not a Nissan.. (although I think nissans are great :D )

Just so you know i'm not just refusing to admit.. by no way is a stock skyline king.. but with all its technology it is pretty sweet..

End Rant.

#1: (For everyone) A 500hP GTR did not win Targa Tasmania in 2004, Jim Richards did in his Porsche.

#2: Why is it so diffcult to believe I beat a GTR around a track?

#3: I love the Skylines but with everyone loving them aswell I didn't want to be a sheep, so I chose something individual to buy.

#4: It isn't as dirty, smelly, shitty or slow as your making it out to be.

#5: I know why you're taking stabs at me (because I'm trying to match an Australian built car to a Japanese one), but why do I need proof about everything I say?

#6: Just give me a break will you guys? Where's your proof that I'm bullshitting?

doesnt work like that mate. I was a member of a prominent ford enthusiast forum and if ANYONE came on making claims like you have, they'd simply be asked for a dyno read out, or a 1/4mile time slip....you seem very reluctant to provide these things

I know a guy with an 11 second BA XR6T, but he doesnt claim to beat a GTR around a track...he does however provide timeslips for the 1/4 mile times he claims to run

#1: (For everyone) A 500hP GTR did not win Targa Tasmania in 2004, Jim Richards did in his Porsche.

Wouldn't know but if a porsche won thats great theyre beautiful cars if u can afford one

#2: Why is it so diffcult to believe I beat a GTR around a track?

Please organise a track day with some of the GTR guys on here in your local State,

put your $ where ur mouth is. Even if you come last u will gain respect.

#3: I love the Skylines but with everyone loving them aswell I didn't want to be a sheep, so I chose something individual to buy.

Plenty of people don't like Skylines, sorry but an XR6T is just as sheepish (if not more so due to it looking just like very common BA's) .

#4: It isn't as dirty, smelly, shitty or slow as your making it out to be.

I agree, XR6T's are nice (provided u get a good one) I'd really like to take one for

a spin and would consider one as my next car cos I need 4 doors.

#5: I know why you're taking stabs at me (because I'm trying to match an Australian built car to a Japanese one), but why do I need proof about everything I say?

No, stabs are being taken because of you being ignorant and arrogant about how good u and ur car is. Proof is good because people can see ur not just talking it up.

#6: Just give me a break will you guys? Where's your proof that I'm bullshitting?

If u start being constructive you'll have no probs on here, we like constructive arguements for the most part. We are here to learn etc. We have no proof that u are bullshitting but u have no proof that u are not. Thats y a track day would be good and a lot of fun.

Most of us are skyline fans but we are not dumb enough to think of them as the be all and end all of cars, not even close. Me, I'd love an Astin Martin.

Good to see u are chillin out a bit, and all the best.

Rick

PS what colour is your XR6T, I like Phantom!

Well-well Guess what was sitting on my desk when I arrived at work today. OMG, it's a motor mag, and within it pages are the time recorded by a pretty decent and consistent steerer also, of both the FPV Typhoon and a 350Z.

XR6t as you have claim straight out of the box your xr6T can beat a 350Z, as all would know a Typhoon has a 30kw advantage over the base xr6T and it also have decnt stopper and suspension tunings.

These are the time set by Rick Bates around Wakefield park

350Z ani.------------------------> 1min12.15 sec

270kw Typhoon-----------------> 1min13.30sec

as far as I'm concern the Typhoon better brakes and suspension set up would easily shave a second or 2 of the base xr6T, Unless you have a telepathic link with your car, I highly doubted that you can be a more consistant steerer than R. Bates.

I'm not trying to be smart, but I'll show you why and where the Typhoon lost to the 350z. At turn 8 the 350Z had a carry speed of 65kph and the typhoon manage a respectable 62kph, I would have no doubt the base xr6T would have a 60 or lower turn 8 speed.

Please note these are the FACTS as recorded by a third party and not just heresay.

So for the record I'm repeating. The 350Z will hands the xr6T arse on a platter on any track in Australia, period!!

Some respectable comments but let me point a few things out:

#1: The Typhoon is heavier because of the premium package you get, heavier rear seats, large bodykit sends weight up marginally, larger wheels and more of a luxury car than the XR6T.

#2: You sound as if your saying two different drivers experimented in this event, one must have been a better driver than the other, becuase it's impossible for both drivers to have exactly the same capabilities.

#3: I've also read in a Motor magazine (correct me if I'm wrong), that the Typhoon takes 6.1sec to propel itself from naught to 100km/h, whereas the XR6T takes 5.9 seconds to do this. Same driver.

#4: This is an interesting comparo (maybe it should be XR6T vs. 350Z?) so no outright arsehandings can take place here. With my extent of modifications I guarantee you I will rape the hell out of a 350Z, and when it rocks up to the finish line, I'll be waiting to shit all over it again.

Good points though.

So you're saying out of the entire Ford Australia/FPV lineup, the XR6T is the performance flagship? Why would it cost nearly half of the Typhoon then?

No he said Rick Bates drove both times. Read properly.

Looking at the thread, we are now looking at track times as a judgement of all round performance. A 0.2 seconds gap 0-100km/h is not the best proof to rebut track times.

With my extent of modifications I guarantee you I will rape the hell out of a 350Z, and when it rocks up to the finish line, I'll be waiting to shit all over it again.

I bolded the most important part of this quote.

Good, with your modifications your BA beats a stock 350Z.

So let's take a Z-Tune 350Z and match it up with a stock XR6T.

Real fair both ways isn't it?

Pick a point to argue - are you saying it is your car that is better than most imports? If so, there's nothing to stop you from claiming so. You're comparing your modified car vs stock cars. It's no longer Oz vs Jap. It's your car vs stock cars (in which there's no point arguing because the playing field is not level).

Or are you saying, as the thread title suggests, a stock XR6T, straight from the factory, will be better than most imports (eg around the track)? If this is the case, you better get your head checked.

Since its you that is challenging the majority of us here, if you want to be take seriously:

A ) Make your arguments respectable

B ) Provide technical proof or facts to back up your claims. Words like 'rape' and 'arsehandings' are not typically used as terms of measurement.

C ) Keep the profanity level down.

D ) Stop the personal attacks.

I gave up on this nut bag, he argues that he wants a fair and level headed discussion, but when you try and bring something that tips the plate the imports way you get thrown out as a closed minded wanker.

Typical meathead.

Your car is one heavy mole.

Correct me if I'm wrong but is this the sphincter of the universe trying to tell us he has increased the power out put of his car by roughly 35% but increased his torque out put by more than 100%!!

I'm not sure but when power = torque * rpm i can't seem to work out why his power is so low.

This is pretty laughable. Geez you guys are wankers... Are you trying to tell me my power should be higher than my torque? :P

the XR6T Typhoon is a great car

i raced 1 not long ago (updated version with the Twinplate clutch)

off the lights i left it dead

but rolling start he got me up to the first 60km/h

so much torque those things...but top end was absolutly rubbish

btw side note.. the Typhoon was the 1 who actually started me.

came up to me a stupid speeds tailgated me braked infront of me put his hazards on etc.

bloody idiot got chopped.

these ford drivers are pissing me off these days with their i am invincible attitude

I hate idiots like that, they don't just drive Holden's and Ford's though. I am commonly mistaken for a Ford driver with an 'I am invincible' attitude. You couldn't be further from the truth. Once I get tired of my car, I'm going to by an EVO VIII. Great little cars, superb handling and traction and relatively good acceleration standard. The Typhoon isn't that quick, It actually doesn't appeal to me, Ford's attempt at a luxury/performance car (aswell as being overpriced) isn't my cup of tea. Theres one thing I hate about my car though, it's just no fun until you get traction. Most Ford bogans would love to just sit there and spin the wheels, not me, I'm just sick of it. So there, I'm making an effort at balanced discussion by telling you what I hate about my Ford and heres some more things: V8 Supercars are shitboxes in my opinion, some of the heaviest touring cars in the world are just no fun to watch. Now the JGTC, that is real racing. When heaps of people say they can wind 700hp-800hp out of the new Ford or Holden, who really cares? While the Japs are making half the power, theyre still crapping all over the Australians. And as for build quality, don't get me started, it's still a Ford. The door trims fall apart, the overall quality of the interior isn't great either (not as bad as a Holden though), I hate the fact that being such a heavy car brake dust is always coating the rims in it. If theres anything you'll notice between an XR6T and an Evo/Skyline etc. is that the Ford doesn't inspire confidence. I've rushed this and may have missed some things but at least you've heard me bag my own car. Happy? :P

    • Depending on conversion rates and when you factor in Australian David Jones pricing on fabrication these days, this kit (bolt on affair, zero fab) nearly seems worth every dollar. https://www.spectrummotorsportssolutions.com/products/copy-of-gt-r-rb26-single-turbocharger-kit Their disclaimer: **Please note - While this kit includes everything needed to convert to Single Turbo without additional Fabrication, Professional installation is suggested. The PS reservoir will need to be moved from the stock location, however everything else fits R32/33/34 GTR w/ OEM AC and Power Steering Pump**.
    • I finally figured this out. That green part, can actually be pushed out. Mine was on the wrong angle because I messed around with it. So what needs to be done is the clockspring to be removed (the loom can't be removed so you need to pull the cable towards you to remove it off the shaft then let it rest on something so it's not dangling) Then you just make sure that the 3 green dots form a triangle and that the 3 holes on the steering wheel inserts into the 3 holes on the green part (you need to push out the green part to do this otherwise you'll keep having the issue with the indicators not cancelling)

    • Oh very very true ! I'm honestly thinking about taking my entire R33 series 3 red stitch GTR interiour out of my car, selling it and buying a small house !  I spotted as pair of R400 GTR seats on GumBay on the interweb and they were asking around the 12K mark !
