thats right.... your output shaft is spinning a lot faster, hence, greater frequency

don't think the output shaft is turning any quicker...

it's to do with the meshing of the gears - the meshing of conventional diagonal cut gears are very quiet, vs straight cut gears which mesh quite noisily.
