We are swapping an rb20 into my s13. The engine is in, but we have a few questionmarks. Maybe you guys can help us out.

1. The powersteering-pump has 2 connections on the s13, but 3 on the rb. Is this maybe for hicas or something else? What do I do with it?

2. What's this (red circle)? It is connected to 2 tubes (yellow circle) going to the plenum (eccs) and to the inletpiping just before the throttlebody. Looks lke some kind of membrane with a sensor. Is it EGR? What do I do with it and with the rubber tubing leading to it?

3. The harnass in the left is from the skyline. Does anyone know where all the extra connectors and wires are for? Maybe hicas/climat control?

Thanks for the help!

The pump has the additional outlet for the hicas as you figured. I dont know that blocking it off is a good solution for the pump but you could probably grab an r33 pump or maybe see if your old sr/ca pump can be made to fit.

The red circle is air regulator valve which should have a line running in (yellow circle) and a line running into the bottom of the plenum. It is open when the car is cold and closes as it heats up. It gets an air feed from the cross over pipe before the throttle body which is tee'd to go to the idle air valve and the air regulator valve.

Looms are fun. The 2 4 pin plugs are for the eccs and ignition relays, the remaining wires are a combo of climate control wiring, fuel pump speed control, o2 sensor power, wipers, tach out, temp gauge, cranking signal, eccs/ignition trigger and some other stuff i cant remember. Time to get out some pinout diagrams and start tracing wires. It isn't a plug in job, and it isn't a quick job. It's the hardest part of an engine swap imho.

good luck

Take the rear cover off the pump. Then take out the impeller inside (it just pumps ps fluid to the hicas system.) Then use a bolt and block off the rear outlet.

Problem solved...
