well, I've finally got around to buffing the HR30 after the respray and it came up alright. On the weekend I painted the body mouldings and bumpers and now its all pretty much back together.

Got a battery for it and it started up after about 20secs of cranking! Not bad considering its been well over a year since I've fired it up! But it was chuffing out the smoke - which it didn't used to do :O And the clutch slave cylinder had carked it, so a quick swap with the one off my 1200 racecar and we were in business. So I had to take it for a quick run around the block B) First time I got up it, it blew heaps of smoke - I'm talking clouds of the shit - but it seems to have settled down after that, and I think its back to normal. No smoke at idle now, and just a wisp under hard accelleration - which is how it was when I bought it. Hopefully the oil rings were just a bit gummed up from having sat for so long :D

then it just died after I got back home and had it idling in the driveway. Turns out the previous owner had the wiring from the CAS sitting on the exhaust manifold, and it burnt through. Must have been hanging on by a shard... So that was the end of the fun, and I got the camera out...

Now it just needs a few little things like tyres, and a CV boot before rego! that is if the smoke problem has settled down - otherwise the L24 block will get an early call-up for duty under the turbo... Then when its on the road, the mods can begin B)

Not sure wether to put the badges back on the back of it. And I've got those moulding for behind the wheel arches, but again, not sure if I'll fit them. I might tape them on next weekend and see...

Looking good mate. I've had mine off the road for about 3 weeks and took it for a quick strap to blow the cob webs off ond mine blew white smoke for a bit and then it seems to have stopped but it blows a heap of black smoke under hard acceleration which it never did before. Dont know what I've done wrong but it wont go away. ;)

thanks guys, I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. yeah did it myself under the house. Its not as dodgy as it sounds - use a tack cloth between coats to pick up anything that may have landed on it. And I wet down the floor and walls to lay the dust before painting, and try to pick a still day. I've painted 4 cars now over the last 8 years, and everytime I say "this is the last time!". But it just saves sooo much money!

I like the iron mask front on yours rsx84. I reckon that looks heaps tougher. Mine just looks like a plain jane MR30 at the front. oh well... someone was talking about front bars a while ago here. That would make it look a bit more agressive. I might have to try and dig up that thread - there'd be more room for an intercooler too which is one of the first things I want, along with exhaust and a few pounds more boost. what were they thinking with 4psi???

Mine had a SKYLINE badges on the left side of the boot and TURBO ES badges on the right side. Were there any differences in trim or spec between ES and EX models? I think I've heard here that the ES was supposed to be lighter, but that's about as much as I know!

NICE! Would look  ;) angry ;) on its balls with lower profile tyres and lip extension...... And no badges :)

Good to see more r30's around QLD... Seems like mine the're all off the road though!!!

mine should be being complied in the next few weeks, but i have to put the old suspension back in for compliance, doh, w2ill be done though finally....

mine won't be off the road much longer

its got 215/55*16 on there now, I'll be going to 225/50 - a nice common/cheap size.

its low enough for me already - can't get a bloody trolley jack under there as it is! besides, its just a bit of a fun street car - I have this car for the real fun!

I've heard conflicting reports on that....I think the EX is higher trim specs.Haven't seen many ES's with power windows (as my EX had)

The stock badging is as you discribed,I should've been clearer.Mine only had the "Turbo" and "EX" badges reversed. Have attached a bigger pic that shows it clearer. I liked the sound of "EX Turbo" rather than "Turbo EX"........

thanks Abo Bob. I think I'll keep it the way it is - without the badges. They can always go back on later.

Adam, yours is looking good too. lurve the front bar!

0HR-30T, thanks for clearing it up about the badges. My ES has manual windows, power mirrors that don't work, rear wiper, electronically adjustable shocks that also don't work, but are thankfully stuck on the hard setting

I've had no luck getting it going again this morning. fixed the wiring that burnt through on the exhaust, but still won't start. Hopefully it didn't fry anything serious when it shorted out :D It only burnt through the outer wire that spirals around the 3 core wires, probably to 'shield' them. There a section of that spiral sheild about an inch long missing now, but I doubt that's the problem preventing it form starting. Still has no spark. I'll have another look at it later on.

As some of you know I HAVE THAT FRONT BAR in Sydney and it's up for grabs.

BUT!!!! I would suggest to everyone, as I don't want it any longer because of the rarety of my PNV I'm only going to fit the factory optioned bits as like the iron mask front and DR fron spoiler. MAKE A MOULD of it, as there are at least half a dozen guys here that would buy one.

Cheers,

Dennis

My PNV is an ES but I am missing the Turbo badge, but thanks to Ben in Adelaide he gave me a GT badge from the car, so I have taken the Skyline strip off the boot lid and will have GT on the left & ES on the right.

Then let them wonder what they see.

    • I should note too as I have all 4 wheel speed inputs to the emtron I now have the emtron controlling the attessa solenoid for 4wd/traction and launch control strategies.
    • It works quite well with the adjustibility within each of the programs of the turbolamik. Essentially p1 is drive and lockup comes on like a normal driver.  But in program 7 I have customised it to not request the lockup clutch to engage until something like 6500/7 when slip was the lowest.
    • Yep, I like that. The tags are only on the first post of a thread and we don't get huge numbers of new threads. Also, I plan to add some more report types and we could have a member report type like 'review tags' then members could flag if they thought a topic wasn't tagged correctly.  No way man, I dig the input. Thanks!
    • It's a valid thought. There's not exactly that functionality already (when creating a thread) - that's where the OP can use/create any tag they want. We'd have to come up with a way for the user to request their tags get reviewed or something. Otherwise the mods would have to review every new post's tags (for those that have them, anyway). There's kind of that functionality already exists to some extent, post facto of starting the thread, where the OP or any other user could report the post to admins, and request that tags get reviewed. We could do this already, and any user could already have made such a request. To make it a part of the forum proper, it would require an initial and an ongoing education programme, so that people know that it's a thing. OP based tagging/request for review would also require at least some (probably most) of the user base to be told that it's a thing they can do. Both of these things probably wouldn't spread too far and/or get used very much. If it was the standard approach on a lot of different sites, then it might do, because people would be used to it. Prank's approach to this differs from my original thought, by leaning into tagging. Which is fine - it's possibly better than what I originally suggested. In fact, I just went to the R32 GTR wiring diagram thread and added tags, including "Library". That's probably a good way to use tags and the idea of a library. We just have to drag together an (organised!) index of threads or posts that have that tag. I have yet to do any of my own follow up by pursuing worthy threads and posts and reporting/marking/tagging them for the library, such as the @Sydneykid stuff I was talking about, and possibly any amount of @Lithium 's and others' posts. At least if I tag them Library, we'll have a start.   Back to @Wazmond's idea as it relates to @PranK's, we might have some sort of a list of tags that are already used to scrape for this library. I'm not entirely sure how that would be presented or used, particularly if it got long. But it's yet another idea!   cheers
    • Just a thought, but instead of restricting, is it possible to do like an "up for review" kind of thing? Where say someone who's not an admin/mod tags, it would require approval for it to actually tag? User posts with a 'tag' > Admin/Mod Reviews > Approves tag > Tag now exists kinda thing? Just came across this thread so Im not too sure if Im straying off topic or not but forgive me if i am...
