"normal" fuel = regular unleaded, which is 91 RON

"premium" by definition refers to something that is above or better than the normal...

Thus 95 RON or 98 RON or anything above 91 RON could be called "premium" as it is indeed better than the regular 91 RON

The difference is that some companies have their premium at 95 RON and some at 98 RON. They're not lying saying 95 RON is premium as it is. But stick to the 98 RON premiums of vortex98, synergy8000, optimax, or ultimate

Personally, i like ultimate but i think the differences between the big name 98 RON's are physhological rather than fact

If there is no difference why did my exhaust gas stink of sulfur on the 2 occassions that I put optimax in instead of Ultimate??? :(

I always use Ultimate, although I haven't tried vortex yet.

smell is subjective...

what difference does a change in smell make? does it make the car go slower or the engine wear out?

I'm not saying there is necessarily any performance or engine wear difference between the fuels. But there must be a difference in the composition of the fuels when optimax makes my exhaust gas really stink and ulimate doesn't.

Not that i'm an expert in petrol by any means. :D

agreed on that, there is definately a diffrent composition of the fules. I'm sure there is some sort of patent (or whatever legal crap covers their secret formula) on optimax etc. - they all have the same RON rating, but different compositions for sure
