ZigenGT
Hi, i just bolted on an FMIC onto my R33 today, it is the 600x300x76 cheapo that many people have bought. I went for a spin with a friend and we noticed there was no flutter sound. I'm running about 12 pounds boost and using the stock BOV, can someone please advise me why there is no flutter sound? (Others using this cheapo FMIC have flutter so i don't think it's the cooler's fault) Thanks! R31Nismoid
a FMIC has nothing to do with or create "flutter" thats caused by taking off the BOV and having the air go backwards through your turbo. so a search. this gets asked every 2nd week Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/83536-fmic-flutter-question/#findComment-1510979 Share on other sites
AzzurrA
just remember... although flutter may be fullleeee siiik yuleh, its also bad for your turbo... give me no flutter any day! R33S2
I had flutter @ 14psi with my HKS BOV and similar FMIC but none with factory BOV, running the factory now. someonestolecc
Also your stock BOV should handle that so you shouldn't actually get flutter. If you just want the whipple sound you need a pod filter or no filter. If you want more of it some people say using a metal (i.e. stainless) intake pipe gets more sound too. R33_Series2Lover
Thats a pretty cool set up. I want that cool pod filter sound but am scared of the whole sucks more hot air than cold. Having a heat shield is this the answer? Are the any problems that may arise from having a pod filter and then installing a 3inch exhaust?? My car is stock engine wise. Just want the roar of the exhaust and the cool sound of the Pod Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/83536-fmic-flutter-question/#findComment-1512603 Share on other sites
Sambo33
yep, definately fit a heat shield or cold air box. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/83536-fmic-flutter-question/#findComment-1512671 Share on other sites
Sambo33
like this <{POST_SNAPBACK}> nice! where did you get that pipe from? does the stock bov still feed-back into it? any noticable improvements over the plastic one? R33_Series2Lover
cold air box?? Whats that?? Which is better to make sure the car sucks cold not hot air. Flaps
just remember... although flutter may be fullleeee siiik yuleh, its also bad for your turbo...give me no flutter any day! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I don't see how a having an airbox is different to a POD with flutter. You may hear it more with a POD but because you can't hear it doesn't mean its not there. If i change gears between 1000-3000rpm is hear no BOV just flutter, how can i stop it fluttering? By putting the stock air box surely doesn't mean it wont flutter. When i installed my FMIC the BOV noise changed(became more echoy and louder). Sambo33
its just a box around the pod, with a cold air feed going into it. its a good method of keeping hot air out. there is a big thread on CAIs somehere around here? cold air box?? Whats that?? Which is better to make sure the car sucks cold not hot air. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/83536-fmic-flutter-question/#findComment-1512727 Share on other sites

grandmasterb
FFS! Not another "i want sick flutter" thread!I wish my skline dished out hectict "doeses" of flutter! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah i think i got Stooged when i bought my car as it came with no flutter I dont get what all these guys want/like this sound honestly. Get a aftermarket BOV and tighten the spring all the way you will get a sound pretty close to the "FLUTTER" you want and wont have the detrementle effects on your turbo in the process.
