Hey guys, ive had my 25t for around 2 years now, love the car, but now im hungry for power, alot more!!!

Its a 94 spec, r33 coupe, its done 160,000kms, i know, its alot, is it worth the hassle, im hoping so.

-rb25det

-apexi power intake filter (heat shielded, though no feed running to it apart from the stock funnel intake)

-3" Rage exhaust system

18" dtm wheels: 235x8.5 front, 265x9.5 rear, rolling on Kumho 712's ecsta's allround (theyre not the best tyres i gtta admit)

-Oh yeah and its auto....

Apart from that, its basically stock, where i want to go with this???.....hoping for around high 12's daily driven on street tyres, but my main concern is to have it handle good, as i would like it to be street/track ready

I had to have my manifold studs replaced as they where cracked......but seems to be stable again.Ive also noticed alot of missing every now and then when on boost???

I need to know if im aiming too high or not.....and where i should start my journey, i dont even have a boost gauge right now..........

I was thinking of getting my dump pipe replaced, good place to start?

i heard theres several types you can get, ones with screamers etc...what am i looking for?

Last question, how much rwkw am i aiming for if i would like to achieve high 12's???

p.s, im from NZ, but prefer this site for info, as its got lot more on r33's where you guys are.

hope you like the pics

Hi, Maybe get a compression test and see how healthy your motor is before you begin modding? just making sure all your cylinders are in good condition.

If you are confident that your engine is healthy then...If you haven't done the rest of your exhaust (aka dump pipe, hi flow cat, front pipe) you should get that done. A split dump pipe would be in your best interests if you can fork out the extra dollars (shouldn't be TOO much more). FMIC, some form of boost control to put your boost up to 10-11psi, a piggyback fuel controller (apexi safc) and a good tune should see a nice power increase.

To stop your missing have you tried simple remedies like resetting your stock ecu? smaller gaps in your spark plugs (eg 0.8mm instead of 1.1mm)? they might help.

A whiteline handling kit will do wonders in the handling department along with some decent tread. I'm not sure, but maybe a trans cooler and a higher stall converter is necessary with your increased power.

Hope this is of help!

Yep, as nitemare said - check the sparkies (or replace them as they are worth bugger all). Do your compression test at the same time, as its alot of mucking around to keep pulling it all apart - the lucky GTR owner don't have to worry about the intake manifold over the top. Whilst your doing that, check the physical condition of your coil packs. It seems to be getting more common as these cars get older that a coil pack will get a crack in it and I assume this lets moisture in which will cause a missfire.

Cheers

cheers for the reply guys, when you say split dump, how do these differ from a standard dump pipe(which i was thinking of getting)?

reccomendations for spark plugs please, i think its time i got new ones.....

Also, how big an intercooler should i get, ive seen these things get alot of power out of fairly small ones, like 400x300.....id like to keep my front bar intact, and just modify it a little to fit the front mount.

How much would i be looking at for a compression test?

Btw, just for straight line use, what tyre pressure would you use for my car

currently:

235/18@36psi

265/18@32psi

See this link for a dump pipe im thinking of getting, the guys are saying its good for 10rwkw,which id be more than happy with, this is a split dump right, as it has the separate wastegate pipe which meets up again near the end......

its 250.00nz though?,i hear of these going for 600-800 on these forums, hoax maybe?also if i was to get an aftermarket turbo, with an external, would that render this pipe useless?

Yes it will render it useless as any turbo that requires an external gate normally has a circular exhaust outlet with either a special flange to suit or a v band clamp. That in turn means a new dump pipe and possibly front pipe to suit that and to allow for the exhaust from gate to enter it unless your going for the screamer effect - VERY NOISEY!

Normally if your going for the diff turbo..maybe high mount manifold and ex gate..then a custom job is the way to go.

I think your limited to about 1 bar with std 33 turbos...some people claim to get anywhere from 170-200 rwkw. I myself with the std turbo only had after a tune about 170 odd rwkws and that was on 1 bar..beats me how people with same mods were making 30 more kilowatts...suppose diff dynos can give varying figures.
