Hi guys,

Can anyone tell me if there is an advantage of using the AVC-R over the pfc bost control kit? I tried doing a search on this but it kept coming back with errors.

I was going to get the AVC-R, but dont know if there is any advantage in getting it, as it costs more than getting the boost kit for the pfc

Thanks for your help.

It uses the same boost control solenoid as the AVCR. I have the PFC boost kit and no problems with it.

is there anything that the avc-r can do that the pfc cant? apart from having a 1/2 din blue screen in your dash? :P

avcr has gear based boost control

avcr has rpm based boost control

whether those things are worth 200$ more or up to you

oh ok...the gear based boost control might be worth it. Being able to limit boost in the lower gears would be quite useful. Seeing as there is a heap of money going into making the power, $200 will be worth it to help limit wheel spin in 1st and 2nd gears :P

Cheers for that :)

searched... works no errors for meĀ  :)

2nd post

thanks for the link ;)

I just tried to search again and got the same error:

Sorry, an error occurred. If you are unsure on how to use a feature, or don't know why you got this error message, try looking through the help files for more information.

The error returned was:

oh...i think I get it now. I guess it cant handle fc in the search criteria :P

I have the PFC boost control kit and it controls boost very accurately.

However, with the plan of a bigger turbo in the pipeline, I would probably have gone with the AVC-R so that I can limit boost in lower gears.

And although some people will say that I can limit boost with my right foot, and I've said it myself as well, it would still be VERY handy to be able to have control over the boost characteristics of the engine.

If anyone has an R34 and wants the PFC boost kit, I'll swap for an AVC-R. Cash adjustment of course.

Hey Bass, thats what I thought too. Being able to control boost in 1st & 2nd especially. I am looking at getting to 300rwkw so prefer something that will electronically control the boost.

I know I wont be able to trust my right boot :)

PSĀ  Love the white writing on your tyres by the way,Ā  very RACE!

Thanks man ;)

Takes a lot of time colouring in the writing with a paint pen :) In the photo I only did half on each tyre. Started getting too dark.

I'm sure if you were trying to reduce wheel spin in a certain situation and had the ability to do it electronically, you would.

I know I would.

Lower boost in 1st and 2nd gear is simplistic at best. Let me see if I have it right;

You run 1.5 bar in 3rd, 4th and 5th

But say 1.2 bar in 1st and 2nd

That way you will get less wheelspin in 1st and 2nd :D

But what if it is a nice warm day and the road is clean and it will handle 1.3 bar?

But what if it is raining and 0.8 bar is needed for less wheeelspin?

But what about if the road is sorta clean and has only a few bumps, so 1.25 bar would be good,

But what about if the road is a bit bumpy, and the tyres are getting old, and 1.15 bar is the go.

Do you limit the 1st and 2nd gear boost to 1.15, 1.2, 1.25 or 1.3 bar? <_<

What you need is traction control, not lower boost. And the best traction control is your right foot.

:) cheers
