Oran Park: V8 Supercars

I'll be there on Sunday from about 8:30am ready to soak up the v8 goodness !

Yup $45 was very rich for a round at Oran Park however seeing as though you can see most of the track from the 1 spot, along with 3 massive big TV's (semi trailers) and also the fact that the V8SC series is only at EC+OP twice a year I just have to go, been going too many years not to go

For a moment today in 1 of the races I thought I was watching the F1, they were all just following each other with no overtaking. Mark Skaife was pretty much the only entertainment for the entire day

Plenty of promo girls around today, the 2 FoxSports and 2 Donut King promo women left nothing to the imagination. The "DeWalt tough man challenge" was there once again (just like at EC) and caught many people out. It's always funny to see a guy that looks like he lives at the gym 7 days a week lose to just a regular guy with a VB in 1 hand and circular saw in the other.

Weather was tops !

Skaife has dimensia, I'm sure of it. They send him out with the best intentions and he finds the first beach to start making sand castles. Whatatool!

Ingall owned them all in the 2nd race yesterday - big effort by Marcos to climb back to 4th in the first race after a drive-through as well!

We had a great day down near the go-kart track - although the 4 dozen Woody's and Coke could've helped

I went!!

My friend was racing (in the Aussie Racing Cars), so we went and hung out with them...as errr "pit crew" hahahaaa like i helped!! lol

He did really well too...1st, 2nd, then 1st....and then in the final race they were supposed to go on before the v8's at 2.30pm but the knobheads decided to put the VB challenge or something on and there wasn't enough time for the race (we were already down lined up at the marshalling area ready to go on!!)

So we sat around.... and they finally put them on when it was practically DARK (they don't have headlights <_< ) and my mate had a big stack and lost what would have been the round win.

Even one of the marshalls said it was unsafe.

Where did you watch the V8's from benm?

I was directly in front of where they enter the pits, right where Winterbottom smacked straight into the back of someone on his way in...too funny.. :lol:

I always sit/stand at the top of the hill near the private grandstand on the last corner so not far from you.

Usually with 5-10 laps to go of the last V8 race i'll walk around towards the esses just before the last corner and watch from there. I've been caught in that carpark too many times (often taking 1-2hrs to get out).

Those little Aussie Racing Cars are unreal. I'd so love to buy/drive 1 of those but they are bloody expensive ($40k) for what you get and apparently the waiting list is huge (with some 2nd hand cars being worth more than the brand new price).

i will second that dream. aussie racing cars rock. everthing you want in a race car. light, stong, good engine/box combo. plus they have small wheels so tyres are cheaper!

haha yeah I've only been there once before but I remember that..

we didn't have that problem this time...we didn't leave the track till well after dark (6 or 7pm)..

yeah the ARC are so cool and very cute!!...it can be expensive, but Jeff's got a great sponsor who has been getting some great feedback now that the cars are so popular, so they've given them quite a few more $$$ to keep the team going.
