Hi all,

I need advice SAU:

I got a mate who has a 91 180sx SR20 turbo. Usually his car is fine, he recently bought it and it is close to stock (basic mods). Recently though, if his car idles for a while and he then revs it only slightly and begins driving, he will blow a lot of blue smoke out the exhaust which will subside after accelerating normally for about 10 seconds.

The second symptom is that when he changes gears on moderate to hard acceleration, he cops an immediate hesitation that can also be found when accelerating, say in 2nd, letting go of the accelerator and then resuming (without changing gear) after a second or so.

Aside from that, the car runs perfectly. His mechanic claims that the seals on the turbo have gone, but after reading some of the other posts on the forum, i'm not so sure. The go is to replace the turbo in a few days however, it would be a waste of money if it wasn't the turbo. Money is tight.

Does anyone have an explanation to what is happening? if so, what should be done??? :)

Thank you very much in advance.

Lior.
