I would like to adjust the ride height on my coil overs, however I need a special tool which I was not given with the car and cannot seem to find at repco or bursons, does anyone know where I can get it from?

The nut that adjusts the height has notches in it, its not a typical one where you can whack any old adjustable wrench over! :P

As a backyard butcher, I have done the following a couple of times.

Insert big screwdriver or prybar into lower ring on the left side of the shock. Wack with hammer. Voila ring is free to turn. Once the lower (locking) ring is free the top one should also move.

Tighten is the opposite of loosen.

haha yes I did think about it, however it looks like it is anodized aluminium, which me thinks would damage the sucker.

I however thought that to adjust ride height, I would have to tighten the lower one so the spring is more compressed or am I way off? I'd be very interested to find out!

Yeah you have to tighten them to raise the ride height. But it is only the top ring that controlls the height, the lower ring just locks it in place. So you unlock the lower ring then the upper one is free to turn, in this case tighten.

And yes they are aluminium, use "tap" not "bash" as the setting on the all purpose adjusting tool.

They are hardened aluminium and you can buy C spanners from CBC Bearings, there is one near you. Justmeasure the OD of the spring seat ring, that's the size C spanner you need. If it has a locking ring as well, then you will need 2 X C spanners, one for each ring.

:D Cheers :)
