Hey ppls.

This is an urgent request for number for our first ever official SAUVIC annual dinner. This event is open to members and their guests.

Currently we have a venue in mind, and it’s a great one.

We need to now know whether this is a viable option for us, as we need a minimum of 100 people to make it a go-er.

The price is $65 per head and includes a 3 course meal with all Alcohol supplied.

Remember, Gentleman Jim Richards will be in attendance and will be giving a bit of a speech to us about his time in the Gibson Motorsport Team when he was driving the mighty R32 GTR and trouncing the lazy V8s.

Everyone is welcome to bring their partners or friends along.

The committee really want to put this event on to celebrate the year that was and to award the trophies that you are voting for in a great location when we are all boozed up!

We have been working hard to put on as many events as we can and that we can afford, but now’s the time that you need to put your hand up and commit to the night so we can confirm attendance and whether it will be able to go ahead.

The dinner will be the kick off to a big night on the town, and if you’ve ever parties with SAU, you’ll know we have a ball!

October 1st, Melbourne City.

So please, either say yes or no in the poll so we know what to plan for.

Thanks

THE COMMITTEE

Guys,

Just to add to this - basically in order for this event to go ahead we need number of over 100 people. We are at a situation now where so far this year events we have run (such as the Tsnami Day and DECA) have not been supported as well as hoped and consequently the club coffers have taken a fair denting.

The club can not financially support another event where outlays to host the event are greater than the returns, given that much of our capital is tied up with things such as t-shirts, lanyards and stickers.

This is an event I'd truely love to see happen as I believe it will be a great night but we can only go forward with it if we have the confidence that we have the numbers required to run it without occuring a loss.

Thanks again.

Andrew.

I'm quite annoyed (was *really* looking forward to it gdamnit) but 46n2's aunt decided to get freakin married on the same night.. doesn't she know the SAU dinner is on!! So I guess we're out & revoke previous statement that we will attend :<

Maybe we will be able to skip out at some point later in the evening and track down where you all are... but I think thats the best we can do :~(

Hopefully they'll split up & call it off?! hehe.. one can only hope :P

Easy, just tell them to have the reception there! That'll help the numbers problem!

Everyone kicks a goal :D

JIM RICHARDS!!! - Come on! What kind of Skyline fan wouldn't go!

I dont know about you guys, but I haven't been to many functions where you can hear the words from the great man himself about the domination days at Gibson that lead to the mighty R32 conquering bathurst twice.

Please be aware that the committe have beaten the price down for you guys and for the quality of the venue + food + drinks + guest speaker, it is a good value night.

wish i could get more involved with these events, just feel a little out of it when the 'line is in my garage with no number plates :D

i will attend, will check with better half, but should be at least me. I'll vote once i know.

100 ppl?? That seems like a lot... but i suppose it's not just a member thingy... how many members do we have?

Is it a formal event? ie. suit/tie etc??

It'll be a Cocktail Dress code.

SAU Vic has well over 120 Members. But we need a min of 100 to put thier hand up and say...

Its open to two other clubs, and also non SAU-Vic members :D that have attended various events throughout the year, and have invited us along to thier events.

But still 100 people seems to be hard to attain.

I put it too all you members to prove me wrong and say

"Yep. Im coming to support the Club and have a great night out"

If we get 140 people booked and confirmed. I'll put my reputation on the line and wear a white suit to the event :D

Id love to come if i can hock a ride, havent been to a meet yet :P

No licence and a new turbo in your car sucks b@lls.

So wheres the venue?

Also what times it start?

even a rough idea would do...

Cheers

that is a fairly high number.... cant it be done somewhere smaller that doesnt require as many? or is this pretty much it? I'll come just to make up some numbers but perhaps you may have to look into alternatives if the numbers cant be made?

Come on guys it's the end of year club celebrations... $65 dollars is a very reasonable amount of money for a good night out which includes a 3 course meal and all Alcohol supplied.... Think people should stop saying it's expensive or requires a big number of people and appreciate the work it has taken the guys to organise such an event and all come and make the night the best it can be...

Matt

Ni - we have been looking into all possibilities for 3 months now. Unfortunately the only alternative is to not have anything like this style of event and just stick to basic BBQ's and cruises.

lol i know id rather come to something like this than a bloody BBQ

its no where near expensive considering i drank $100 worth of booze from the bottle shop last weekend haha

hopefully more people jump up and put their hands up for it.

Slack as, Kelly! Just stick your leg out on the freeway and hitch a ride (just watch out for passing trucks).. :)

    • careful when running the car after a boil over. Ive heard you can lose enough coolant that it won't show the right temps because of too much air in the system (or something like that). Make sure the levels are good before trying again.  Maybe a mobile mechanic can come have a look with their scan tool ?
    • OK, just for some extra clarity - there is more than one option at Frenchy's. 1. You can buy the whole kit - with or without the actual compressor. The whole kit includes mounts, hoses, condensor, etc. That's either ~$2200 or ~$2800. No surgery required with this option. 2. You can buy just the bracket (~$600), or the bracket with the compressor (~$1200). Either of this or the above option "without the compressor" is if you already have an Echo comp or you are able to source one locally. Whatever the case, in this option, you will need surgery done on your hoses to adapt to the new compressor. When I said "the Frenchy's kit", I meant the whole kit in option 1. It is obviously somewhat more $$ than a $1500 OEM compressor. But if I had to spend $1500 on an OEM compressor, I would certainly consider spending double that to renew and significantly update everything forward of the firewall. Another option is to rebuild your original compressor. My R34 comp is currently dead and I will be most likely doing that to it if the spare one in the shed is also leaky.
    • I’m thinking that’s the route I’ll  go, thanks for the input!
    • Hey all, my 2004 Nissan Skyline 350GT overheated the other day with coolant boiling and leaking out of the coolant reservoir when I was parking. So today, I started it up again just to see if it was a thermostat/head gasket issue. After about 20 mins of running, temps were normal again, no coolant was leaking out and the upper reservoir hose was warm but my engine suddenly cut off. I checked the oil dipstick and cap when it was running and there was no white foamy residue and the exhaust did not have white smoke. I tried starting up the car again but it would only crank, similar to when I had a camshaft sensor issue just that now there’s no check engine light on the dash. Any ideas? Unfortunately I don’t have an OBD2 that can read the Nissan's programme.
    • Bump on this to not make another post, had a ‘head drain’ leak on me and have the engine out as we speak. Planning on just putting a new freeze plug back in , plug the tapped holes and just be done with that headache.    Now I still want to relieve pressure to allow oil to pass down the blocks returns easier. I’ve seen catch cans with multiple vents help folks with this issue on this forum.  I’m wanting to make my own. I have some pictures here of my setup if anyone can help how I should plumb and design the catch can I would deeply appreciate it !   rb25 Oil upgrades: 1.0mm restrictor n1 pump/billet gears extended crank collar  extended sump with trap doors/w welded fitting
