Can anyone clear up if carbon fibre bonnets are road legal ? I was under the impression that they were not because under extreme stress (ala CraSh) they shatter, unlike metal which crumples.

Dealerships have cars with PODs, atmo venting BOV's, rollcages ... none of which are road legal.

In the same way a cop would find these items, the weight difference between a standard bonnet and a carbon fibre bonnet would give it away.

Jimbo: except for one thing. Cops normally ask the driver to open their own bonnet, they arent allowed to reef your bonnet up, plus most of these wally cops have been taught out of the great bacon lovers book of defects and wouldnt know how much a bonnet was supposed to weigh.

Sounds ok ..... But theres alot more you can do with 5 k that will actually do something Unless your painting it red in which case you can of course expect a faster vehicle after respray ... everyone knows red goes faster !

you can ring some technical place, dunno if its run by nsw police or rta, but they can tell u what is illegal and what is not

dunno what the number is tho, but try the cop shop or rta, they might know
