Nice way to beat losing demerit points for speeding has been highlighted here:

http://smh.com.au/news/national/company-dr...3958129707.html

I like the fact that the boss of the pedestrian Council of Australi is investigating this loophole :( Stick to the walkers, Harold.

I have a sure fire way to do it for non-corporate cars.

International/Overseas Licences do not have any points systems. When the notice gets sent to your house, nominate one of your international student mates to take the blame, write his international licence number down, pay the mate some money for his troubles, pay the fine, and forget about the points! Easy... =)

I know a couple of ppl who pulled this off successfully for a speeding ticket around 20km over the limit. Not sure what will happen if you get done for speeding at a level where you'd normally get your licence cancelled.

i was gonna say...i thought if companies didn't say who the driver was, they got a huge fine...but by the looks of that article they don't bother lol

Sorry guys to break the bubble but this is not true! whoever the company director is loses the points if the driver isnt nominated ...speaking from experience ..

one of our drivers recieved a fine in the mail and he thought he was smart by not confessing he had done it so therefor the infridgement process centre fines the director and they also loss the points from there license. This loop hole was closed a few years ago .

What if the director doesn't have a licence? :P

I assume the rules will be different from state to state, with this article being NSW based.

Yes, this isn't a new loophole or anything, but the article I posted is highlighting the fact that it is going to be looked at, with the push ironically being led by the Pedestrian Council of Australia.

okay being based in new south wales i can only speak for this state hahahha tried doesnt work as i dont have a license . they will then ask well if u dont have a license .1. some else was driving or 2. why were u driving if u dont have a license .

they will basically not put it to rest and if it went to court u will b found guilty as someone was driving and if u give the excuse that u dont have a license then it is really your problem to find out who was driving and more costs will occur.

by this time state debt will increase the fine and u will b screwed harder.

there is no way of getting out of it....sorry guys

and the loop hole has been closed there not that stupid.

and just think how many people have already thought of this ...cheers

That Harrold guy has nothing better to do than cause grief for us motorists... he is one of the main campaigners behind the P-plate curfew and P-plate restricitons...

He is a nasty piece of work and obviously has never driven a car in his life. If I ever saw him I'd have to throw something at him.

Well if it is old news and does't work, why then is this clown Mr Scruby who is the boss of the PEDESTRIAN Council getting publicity about it in the SMH? You'd think he'd have better things to do.

nmcmahon83, scruby already has a legion of "fans" who would like to do a lot more than just throw something at him  The Australian Drivers Group come to mind as his greatest "fans".

Agreed that it will only work for camera offences, but I can tell you IT DOES WORK in NSW.

I have a fleet of company cars, and when you get the fine in the mail you give 8them a BS name and address overseas.

The RTA will send a letter to "no one" and then it will go tot he Office Of State Revenue for debit collection.

As the OSR has no investigative powers, all hey can do it threaten to cancel visa's / licenses' etc for this invisable person, but they can do nothing to the company. This is because under the law the company has named he driver and that is all they need to do.

I can tell you that failing o nominate smone is a bad thing, but telling them a BS name is "technically" lieing on a stat dec, but that is a lot harder to prove.

The revenue cameras can kiss my butt
