Cicadas here in Japan are not that bad. I was born in Darwin and there are heaps there around the same size. Here in Chiba-ken they have huge Bees and Wasps no shit there was a bee that I saw 3 weeks ago that was 5cm long and it flew in to a fence and you could hear the ding sound from 30meters away! They call the big ones bear bees for a good reason. We blocked one of it's nest in a wood plank by wrapping it with 4 layers of duct tape and next day found out the focker chewed through it!
