Hi all,

Looking for some advice from those in the know as to what to do about valves when having an RB26 head serviced. Is it wise to replace them with new standard or aftermarket items? or can the existing valves be safely re-used?

The head is having Tomei valve springs and bronze valve guides fitted so it seems logical to me to replace the valves also - I may be wrong

If aftermarket valves are the go, which are the best to look for?

Nick, the valves will probably only need to be reseated...the stems should be fine if using new guides. The stem seals will need doing too, especially on the exhaust side.

Thanks Paul :P

Is it best to purchase new genuine valve stem seals?

Hi Nick,

Normally if you buy a full n1 gasket kit ,it will have valve stem seal in it, are you doing a full engine rebuild or just the head? So your fitting some tomei valve springs does this mean your putting sum nice lumpy cams in? If you are, and if they are over the poncam sort of lift 9.15mm i would invest in some new tomei cap retaining studs ,not very $$ and good insurance (as has seen studs fail on a high lift cam setup). best of luck with the mods.

Pm me

Matching your camshaft profile with your turbo selection is critical on these engines. Make sure they are both producing the power where you need/want it. If you want pm me for more info.

Nothing new on that front Paul, Poncam 260's with 9.15mm lift - So cap cam studs may not be needed
