building cars / running businesses are separate things

there are a couple of bad stories about ICE going around, but this thread isn't a place to discuss this.

My main complaint about ice are that they are not very professional. They just say "the car will be done when it's done, and we'll call you". If you go to Amberleys or Rank Rotary (though they don't tune power fc) or race pace. They are much more professional and organised (from experiences with myself and friends), and will say "pick it up on ... and it'll be done"

Rank Rotary and Amberley are more a shop like a car dealer where you drop off your car and pick it up and everything is done as fast as possible. Half the time you dont know what was actually done and they are very stiff when it come to getting information off them if you are not paying $$ for it.

Ben tuned my old RB20DET Cefiro with PFC.

I had no probs with it, the knock reading rarely went over 30 on 30degree days!!

Also i have heard good stories of the new tuner from Chasers.

And there are plenty of bad stories of workshops. Most are chinese whispers, and 4,5,6th hand info.

But Racepace all the way for RB, SR tuning.

they are all performance workshops, I fail to see the difference, amberley and rank will charge top dollar, i'm not denying that, but they seem alot more professional, and I feel more confident leaving my car there.

If a mechanic/workshop won't give me information on what they did, I just won't pay them until they tell me!!!!!!

Don't take it to Benno then. He is the secret squirel king.

I wouldnt go calling someone that can build a 10 sec GTR with over 600rwkw  and similair Supra as amateurs. <_<

Really has nothing to do with it, I have seen that car in the flesh. At the end of the day anyone with the time and money can build such a car. Give Ben the same car, same parts and you would have most likely seen an even better car. I didn’t mean to say ICE are amateurs, they have been tuning imports for quite a few years now. When compared to RacePace Motorsport they look like amateurs in my opinion.

:D

hehehe also with a GTR focus now... so it'll be hard to get anything other than a GTR under the uber squirrel's roller door

i never thought i'd see the day you'd raise a while flag :D

just had enough "workshop this" "workshop that"

when 99% of those are just bullsh|t stories to begin with, or a minor incident blown out of proportion.

Times change, people change... and so do business's

that is all

Just like assholes right?

What are you talking about? If you like ICE and are offended with what I have said, sorry but get over it please … it’s an opinion.

I aint offended mate. :D

Just hope ur opinion is not going off 4th and 5th hand information as it tends to happen off forums.

what about 6th hand?  :D

Absolutely not, two friends of mine went down there to have their GTSt’s tuned, long story short both cars ended up at RacePace just weeks later.

    • I can see between the water jacket and cyl 3 there wasn't a hard line of combustion gas. It certainly appears that the issue is coming from there. Yes, checked the tension. All at 100ft lbs where I set them 5 years ago. These blocks can crack but generally when they have been over bored. Mine is only 0.5mm oversize at 89.5mm. They break between cylinders around the 91mm mark. No sign of that with mine. My gut feeling is the head gasket lifted a while back when the studs stretched and i bandaided it by retorquing the studs. It's finally let go.

    • Yes, but, I paid cash and I'm pretty sure the receipt was in the bin 10 minutes after I got home Note to self, keep all receipts

    • So, version 4 intake is on its way I was looking at these a while ago but at around $200 or more it was a little pricey for something that might not work, but, I had it in my watch list, but, I got a message saying it was on special, and I had a code thingie to use, it eventually came in at $120 delivered, so BAM, BUY NOW.....LOL I'll need to have a look when it arrives but I feel it will "look" better than what I currently have, as it comes with a PCV fitting, so I will be able to get rid of the alloy pipe that goes to the throttle body with the PCV fitting  Well, that's what the voices in my head are telling me  Oh, and this happened today Yeap, it was a Trojan, and it was cheap, so I headed back to the hardware store and actually spent a little bit more on a heavy duty,  one that was actually recommended by a plumber mate, a Cyclone one with a fibreglass handle that is actually rated for clay The broken shovel will eventually be "modified" into a short handle shovel
