I didn't renew my CAMS licence either. All my race reqirements can be met by QR and Willowbank with an occasional sorty to Warwick.

It would be nice to have a run at Noosa but as with most CAMS events....it's too bloody expensive. QR cators for Drift aswell

CAMS keep the day license pretty quiet they want people to take out the full year license instead. There is no doco on the license application form about it, and most clubs runnign events don't know about it either

Join the QRDA if you wanna run cams events, Start doing short circuit, get your lvl 3 and run long circuit events, run hill climbs, sprints, super sprints at warwick or qr, stanthorpe and gatton (dont need it for sprints obviously, maybe for warwick??). It depends how serious you wanna get with racing. Wanna have weekend warrior fun, stick to the sprints. Its a sure safe way to have fun in your road car.

The other point is most peoples cars probably wont pass for most cams events due to lack of modifications. Generally you run a full out dedicated race car for most serious cams events. But people like that predator guy with his black road registered r33 who races in 2a closed sports cars. He tells me he drives to the track and wins every race and then drives home again. He even stated that in the article in HPI or whichever magazine it was i saw that article. So people with road cars do race in serious cams events.

SPARC is still going. they're definitly struggling, but still going. at thier recent AGM they voted in a new commitee who say they want to revive the club and attract new members. Membership fees are now reduced to $35.

you can run stock standard cars at CAMS events - hillclimbs, sprints, supersprints, autocrosses, dirt sprints, motokhanas, street spints, road rallies (touring road events), khanacrosses... the only mods you need are some basic safety items like a fire extinguisher. You can do all those on a L2 licence. Its only if you want to go door to door circuit racing, or rallying, that you need a cage and all the other gear.

That what i meant by not being cams certified for the door to door stuff. Hence why most would run a dedicated race car. You dont want your road car getting all banged up...or even possibly completely stuffed.

Apologies for the inaccurate information, i was being very vague with the details and just rambled off what was coming to mind in no particular order. Cheers for filling in the details hrd-hr30.

    • UPDATE: Hi all!  As we are getting towards the end of this thread where I’ll showcase final dyno numbers and graph, I wanted to provide an update. Tao from HyperGear has done an amazing job building the custom divided T3 housing for the G30. Communication was flawless, price was great, and now the housing is estimated to arrive in 7-10 days! Very very pleased. I must add, if someone is looking for an affordable turbo and end up reading this thread, I would recommend HyperGear. Genuine brands are the way to go as their proven reliability, predictable performance, and there’s a plethora of information available for specs, flow, and more. This HyperGear recommendation is based on their excellent communication, dedication, and willingness to listen to their customers. I particularly liked their ability to create custom adaptations tailored to specific needs, which is a HUGE benefit over other brands. And if we consider the HyperGear provided dyno results, it adds reassurance knowing their turbos can compete against genuine brands. Next update will be after the dyno!
    • I've previously seen people post up "dress up bolt kits" for RBs but don't remember seeing them specify the full contents. I can only really suggest you grab the verniers and start measuring, and keep in mind the cam cover and timing cover bolts are both quite specific with a wider unthreaded section where the bushes sit, that will make it hard to get aftermarket replacements which tend to be all thread (set screws) or for longer bolts a flat section with a shorter threaded section at the end
    • I believe there was a similar one posted by @duggyphresh. They were re-routing their battery positive cable in the way I am also trying to achieve. Sorry, I’m new to this forum, so was a bit late to the party by a few months and so reignited the old thread, as I wanted to know how they got on with doing it.
