(B1) MR_fanny
question...has anyone gone from jap coilovers say tiens hks to billies? what did you guys think of the swap? ive got tiens, love the firmness but hate all the bumps and knock noises that comes with it (bloody used coilovers and worn pillow tops) gary, is it possible to increase the spring rates one stage harder with correct dampening and rebound rates in this group buy? have you gotten around to getting those circuit and drift setups completed yet for those gb's? cheers. Taso84
Hi Sk, was considering replacing my rear springs from my tein HA coilovers with whiteline springs. Would these springs fit or do i need a special set for colivers? Sydneykid
Sorry guys I have been on holidays since the 20/12, I will get around to the hundred or so PM's over the next few days. I don't have definite delivery date for the Bilstein shocks, but they have been produced by Bilstein Germany, so it is only shipping time. As soon as I have a confirmed date I will post it here. All other items for R33GTST's are available. cheers Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/85467-r33-gtst-whiteline-bilstein-suspension/page/20/#findComment-2798715 Share on other sites
Sydneykid
Hi Sk, was considering replacing my rear springs from my tein HA coilovers with whiteline springs. Would these springs fit or do i need a special set for colivers? The Whiteline coil springs in the Group Buy are designed for use with standard spring seats (top and bottom). So they won't fit a coil over shock with non standard top and bottom spring seats. I can organise Eibach (the best) coil springs, all I would need is the ID and free length of the current springs. Wait a few days and PM them to me as I need to clear the inbox a little. cheers Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/85467-r33-gtst-whiteline-bilstein-suspension/page/20/#findComment-2798723 Share on other sites

Heaps of guys have done the upgrade from Teins, I get at least 5 enquiries a week. Every one so far has been ecstatic with the results, far better handling, more traction for acceleration and braking and a far superior ride. The guys who do circuit work have reported faster lap times. So, the obvious question, why do you want to increase the spring rate? Springs are there to hold the car up and soak up the bumps, that's their job. Stabiliser bars control the roll. Anti dive geometry controls the dive under braking, anti squat geometry controls the squat under acceleration. The camber and caster adjuster increase the tyre contact pathc with the road/track. The shocks control the whole package. Simply put, you don't need excessively high spring rates to have good handling. cheers Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/85467-r33-gtst-whiteline-bilstein-suspension/page/20/#findComment-2798744 Share on other sites
dezz
Hey Gary,It might be in the thread somewhere, but its not in the first post...Was wondering what the model numbers for the whiteline springs are? I know you've chosen the shocks to suit them, and added the extra groove, but are the springs just a regular whiteline product? cheers. I'll save you another PM Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/85467-r33-gtst-whiteline-bilstein-suspension/page/20/#findComment-2798747 Share on other sites

Sydneykid
After lots of hours spent replying and deleting, my PM inbox is no longer full. The shipment of R33GTST Bilsteins is in the country, just needs customs clearance and local delivery. I would anticipate late this week or early next week. When I have a definite availablity date I will post it up. But you can place an order from today, safe in the knowledge that it won't be more than 2 weeks till you have your delivery. cheers Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/85467-r33-gtst-whiteline-bilstein-suspension/page/20/#findComment-2803456 Share on other sites

Xizor
Hi sydneykid, Damn your popular pm box always full when i try to PM! I've had the bilsteins in my 33 for a few months now, using the stock factory springs. bit silly i guess but $$$! How much stiffer a ride do you think the whiteline give compared to what im experiencing now with bilsteins using factory springs? Or is it just too hard to say seeing as what ive done right now has thrown the stock springs compression ratio out? Also, are the whiteline springs the same size as stock? ie will direct swapping result in a lower ride height at all? Im thinking if not, but they are a bit stiffer, it might be wortwhile lowering the bilsteins another circlip groove all around. Thoughts? There is a limit as to how low you can go with the standard springs. cheers PS; PM box has space Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/85467-r33-gtst-whiteline-bilstein-suspension/page/20/#findComment-2818566 Share on other sites
