Import Vs Private Sale

I'm back in the market for an R33 GTS-T (series 2) after a disapointment with the 1 i was close to buying...

I was wondering what your opinions were on importing a fresh 1, or buying 1 off someone who already has it here, and has owned it etc...

what are the pros and cons of each side?

and yes, i did a search, didnt find anything....i'm not a fan of this search engine, you cant even search for 3 letter words.

Personally I wouldn't even bother with importing an R32/R33 GTS-t as their are soooo many available here right now it's not funny.

You can inspect and drive each and everyone of them that are privately and commerically for sale here as opposed to looking at a dozen pictures on a website.

Even for myself (looking at purchasing an R32/R33 GTR before Xmas) their is no point in looking to import 1 (especially for such an old car like the R32 GTR). I'd rather pay afew thousand extra to have the ability to inspect/drive rather than save afew thousand because I spent 2mths importing via a website.

thats pretty much what it comes down to for me too mate...i dont care how reputable an importer may be, i dont think i'd feel comfortable handing over the inital $8k odd, and then not having the product for 3 months. also having to trust the judgement of someone else, how secure the car is on the boat etc...who's driving it, who's touching it....

i'm probably gonna go the private route in the end...just wanted some people's opinions
