Sydneykid
Just checked my front tires for the first time in a while and the insides of each are down to the metal strips :\!. Looking at them its asif the tires dont sit straight down instead they angle out. Whats worn? I presume a full kit will fix this? Sounds like excessive negative camber. Generally ride height is the first place to look for excessive tyre wear. What is the ride height , front and rear all 4 corners, centre of wheel to guard? It may just need a camber kit, front $272 and rear $123. cheers Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/85591-r32-gtst-whiteline-bilstein-suspension/page/8/#findComment-2271674 Share on other sites
Sydneykid
I have had to close the R32GTR Group Buy for the moment as Bilstein have run out of R32GTR front shocks. This does not affect the R32GTST Group Buy, there is still stock of Bilsteins (front and rear) available. cheers Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/85591-r32-gtst-whiteline-bilstein-suspension/page/8/#findComment-2306393 Share on other sites

shaunr34gtt
Hello all Just a few questions about my r32gtst 4 door. Currently drivers side front tyre is wearing on the inside edge. It has noticably more camber than the passenger side which is wearing out as well but not as bad. Front Tyres need replacing now because of the wear on the inside edge rest of the tyre is still fine Heights Centre wheel to gaurd Front Drivers side 342mm passenger 360 - measuring the springs Drivers Side is shorter than the other by 10mm missing one of the bottom coils - is this normal was 350 and 360 when bought 1 year ago the springs and shocks that are in the car are supposed to be stock same stuff used to clear compliance in adelaide(Possibly a mix and match of second hand parts) the front upper mounts are after market solid items with no camber adjustment and no rubber mounts to cause issues can post photos if you want rear tyre wear is fine - height drivers side 360 passenger 370mm What would be the best way to fix the camber to start with then put the ride heights to 350 or 360 even left to right? Would it possible to fix camber first then do whatever else is needed later? Can you tell me what legal ride heights would be for my car in SA? - Clearing a defect is a pain Are the fully adjustable camber upper arms street legal? It has noticably more camber than the passenger side which is wearing out as well but not as bad. Front Tyres need replacing now because of the wear on the inside edge rest of the tyre is still fine 1. Heights Centre wheel to gaurd Front Drivers side 342mm passenger 360 - measuring the springs Drivers Side is shorter than the other by 10mm missing one of the bottom coils - is this normal was 350 and 360 when bought 1 year ago 2. the springs and shocks that are in the car are supposed to be stock same stuff used to clear compliance in adelaide(Possibly a mix and match of second hand parts) 3. the front upper mounts are after market solid items with no camber adjustment and no rubber mounts to cause issues can post photos if you want 4. rear tyre wear is fine - height drivers side 360 passenger 370mm 5. What would be the best way to fix the camber to start with then put the ride heights to 350 or 360 even left to right? 6. Would it possible to fix camber first then do whatever else is needed later? 7. Can you tell me what legal ride heights would be for my car in SA? - Clearing a defect is a pain 8. Are the fully adjustable camber upper arms street legal? Hi, I have taken the liberty of numbering your question, save retyping; 1. Standard (new) height is 380 mm front and 370 mm rear, they usually come down 5-10 mm as they get older. Lower on the driver’s side is not unusual, especially if the car spends a lot of its life with just the driver in it. 2. Maybe, or could be juts sagging from age and worn out shocks. With no damping the springs wear out fairly fast. 3. Check the spherical bearings, they usually wear pretty fast. R32/33/34’s have double wishbone suspension, you can’t adjust the camber at the shock/spring unit. You need to do it on the upper arm. 4. That’s is around standard height as per #1, sagging front is not unusual, that were all the weight is 5. My guess is the springs are worn, and most likely the shocks. You really need to replace both. Get the heights right and then adjust the camber. 6. Nope, the sagged springs are casing the camber problem 7. Refer #1, but most guys don’t seem to have problems at 360/350, it’s only when you get down to 340/330 that the height becomes an issue. Remember it’s 100 mm under the lowest point of the car, usually the exhaust where it goes under the rear subframe. The bigger the exhaust, the more likely it will be too low. 8. Nope, replacing bushes in the upper arms with adjustable ones is legal. Hence why the Whiteline camber kits are popular. For camber kits, this is what is usually needed for each height increment, note that all measurements are centre of wheel to guard; Standard (new) height is 380 mm front and 370 mm rear 360/350 mm needs only the standard rear camber adjusters 350/340 mm needs 1 front camber kit and 1 rear camber kit 340/330 mm needs I front camber kit and 2 rear camber kits Hope that was of some help Cheers Gary Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/85591-r32-gtst-whiteline-bilstein-suspension/page/8/#findComment-2349362 Share on other sites
shaunr34gtt
I figured it would be the springs was hoping not looks like im going to start saving now Hi Gary - a great help. Sorry with question 3 I misworded it The front upper arms are after market solid items with no camber adjustment and no rubber mounts to cause issues shown in the pic. The top mounts of the shocks are standard. as long as the upper arms arent a bit shorter than stock i shouldnt need the adjustable bushes for the front as only looking to go 360 - 350mm for best handling - has a gtr front bar on it at the moment looks low enough. Any lower and it wont get up my driveway With Q7 is 100mm australia wide(im in SA)? Are the springs the same no matter what height you have the circlip at? Where can i find the sperical bearings? Where can i find the sperical bearings? Suggestions follow; 1. It's an ADR (Australian Design Rule) 2. Yes 3. Inside the upper arms (where the bolts go though), they allow the same 3 dimensional movement as rubber does in the standard arms. cheers Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/85591-r32-gtst-whiteline-bilstein-suspension/page/8/#findComment-2349971 Share on other sites

Sydneykid
do you have any idea when whiteling will be making another batch of 32 springs My understanding is that a production run has been completed on Skyline springs, but they are not yet at the Whiteline warehouse. They are expected this week.
