hey gary,

has anyone else experienced difficulty fitting front bushes into the stock clamps?

do you require a whiteline clamp as well to suit the bnf28 bar?

cheers

The Whiteline polyurethane D bushes are a tight fit into the standard D brackets. It has happened (very infrequently) that Whiteline have supplied the wrong D bushes with the bar. A couple of quick tests;

1. Try fitting one of the D bushes to a D bracket, without the bar in the D bush. It should fit easily, with only very mild distortion of its moulded shape.

2. Next try fitting one of the D bushes to the bar, without the D bush being in the D bracket. It should fit easily, with only a very small gap where the bush is cut.

If the above tests indicate problems, D bushes usually have a part number moulded into the flat side. What is it on the bushes you have?

 cheers :)

Thanks Gary,

The D-bush i have has #1484/24 stamped onto top.

The bar that came off my r32 was only 20mm im not sure if that has created the problem or not.

I have managed to fit it with a couple of mods;

1- I ground down the top of the D-bush approx. 2mm

2- I then added 5mm spacers between the D-bracket and chassis

I also sanded off the paint which adds up to 1mm thickness

The bar fits in perfectly now, not too tight that it looks like it is binding up.

I couldnt start any of the bolts before!

Cheers

The bush part #1484/24 is the correct one and I haven't had anyone else report issue like this. As I said, they are a tight fit, but your level of required mods seems excessive, 1 mm + 2 mm + 5 mm = 8mm too big, that's way over the top. I will have Whiteline check the dimensions of the 1484/24 just to make sure that there is no moulding error.

:) cheers :)

Bilstein Australia have received a small shipment of R32GTST rear shocks. Those guys with back orders, I will be contacting you tomorrow regarding delivery of your shocks. Thank you for being patient. Anyone thinking of buying a kit, my best suggestion is to get in now, they won't last very long.

:P cheers

Gary,

I haven't heard from you and want to confirm that I am on the list as I placed my order in December when there was only 1 rear shock left. I may be jumping the gun but I'm getting a little nervous as I haven't received a PM from you.

Thanks.

Any chance of the Bilstein/Eibach coilovers like in the S14/S15 groupbuys?

I.e. A more track oriented setup

Yes, just ask, plenty of guys have.

The reason for the S13/14/15 coil overs is to allow height adjustment. Which the Skylines don't need, as the additional cirlcip grooves on the Bilstein shocks provide that facility.

:( cheers :ninja:

Sorry all, I have been out of action for 3 days, somebody gave me a nice little virus. So the PM inbox filled up, but it has been cleared now. So if you could n’t get a message though over the last couple of days please try again.

For those that did get a PM in before the overflow, please be patient I will get to them all sometime today (or tonight).

 Cheers

I am off to Bathurst tomorrow for the 12 Hour race, the race team is running (not a Skyline) and I have to do my Team Manager thing. I will be back on Tuesday, so please excuse the slow responses to posts and PM's.

:pirate: cheers

Hi SK,

Been looking at this group buy for a while now.. Was wondering if you'd be able to do anything the same in New Zealand? Understand it's not probably the easiest but i've been looking for one of these setups for a while (I quite like Whiteline gear) even if I can get the Bilstiens revalved over here or similar.. Or any idea about freight from AU > NZ?

Thanks,

Scott R

is it possible to get a price on whiteline control springs to suit a soarer?

Same Group Buy price, $144 a pair plus $10 freight.

If you are contemplating using standard shocks & lowered springs, I suggest you have a read of this thread.

    • Latest round of updates on the car. I purchased and installed a SWS clutch slipper to help with 60ft times and got some second-hand good condition 275/40R17 Hoosier DR2 radials. Test and tune in November showed the tyres were an upgrade over my over 15 year old mickey Thompson's and I got a 1.8 second 60ft and pb et of 11.71 but even then, that run wasn't great due to rain and driver error (the event got called off 10 minutes later fast forward to the weekend just gone 25th of Jan and there was finally a break in the weather to let racing happen. The first run the track was slippery and only managed a 12.1@129 Second run the track was better and got a new pb et and mph: 11.54@131   Lith and I then worked out that I installed the previously mentioned clutch slipper incorrectly and its never been working, and I had just been dumping the clutch the entire time, we also noticed it was on street boost and not race boost. So I lined up for a third run with the car turned up in the first two gears, but the passengers side axle objected to clutch dumps and left the chat which stopped my weekend.   so there will be another attempt in the future once I replace the tyres as they rubbed and are stuffed now. but a low 11 should be on the cards.
    • Ceramic coating and heat shielding, you mean?
    • Turbos don't require pulling the motor apart so that's "easier". I would recommend the Nismo R3 turbos instead if you want to do stock twin turbo. It doesn't make as much power as the 2530s but it's only like ~50 whp off the mark and should have better response (ball bearing CHRA, slightly smaller turbo). A local that went with a Garrett G30 and 6boost manifold recently nearly burned his car to the ground after the hood insulator started melting and and burning so if you go single turbo I recommend doing a lot of research and validation work to make sure you don't do the same.
    • New rear lights, filler panel sprayed, cleaned and back together    before, during, after shots 😍
    • 100% is gyprock, I agree. Slip of the keyboard. Haha! I left my indicator bulbs out to save a bit of weight.
