Sourcing Brand New Parts From Nissan Japan?

I have a Y32 Cedric thats going through an engine transplant (VG30DE) at the moment, and i have been quoted $2000+ for the seals, hoses, waterpump and timing belt. And a 6-8 week wait

Not sure if its Nissan Australia or my mech. that is ripping me off, but i'd like to try and source the parts using a parts importer (even if i'm not being ripped off i'd like to get the parts quicker than 6-8weeks!)

Are there any services that can help me with this? Specifically i need:

A "VSR Pack" with all engine seals in one

All engine hoses (heater hose, bypass hose, top and bottom radiator hoses, any other hoses that are engine-specific)

Waterpump

Timing belt

Or should i just go through Nissan in rockdale or wherever it is?

VG30DE was used in the Z32 300ZX sold in Australia, so things like water pump, timing belt and engine gaskets will be available across the counter at Nissan - might even be able to get them from Repco, etc. Even if they have to be ordered from Japan the standard turn-around time from date of order is 2 weeks - not 6-8 weeks. Maybe your mechanic has pissed off the local nissan parts department guys in some way.

All you have to do is take your VIN number into your local Nissan parts dealer and he can look up the stuff you want in FAST.

Thanks for that. I called up John Robinson Nissan in Rockdale, and after supplying my details, he told me that half the parts were available locally with only the VRS pack and some of the hoses needing to be ordered. But you are right, its only 2wks turnaround for the Japanese parts, and the price was a little over 1/2 of what i was originally quoted <_<

I am waiting to hear back from a Japanese parts importer though, because they may be able to get them cheaper again...
