The advantages are obvious, it will reduce the running temp of the oil, therefore providing better lubrication of all the engine parts and increasing the lifetime of parts. If your turbo is oil cooled then it will help remove the heat faster and provide better intake temps. The main use of oil coolers is if your doing track work, where they are invaluable.

Only disadvantage I can think off is that some engines need to heat up a bit before they operate properly, so it could take an extra couple of minutes.

I think they are an excellent but will be further down my list of mods, I want more power first.
