Hey all, i have been having a few problems with the handling on my r33 GTST.

It all started, well i noticed it once i changed my wheels on the car. I replaced the standard wheels with some G.MAX wheels that are 18x9.5 on the rear and have 265/35/18 tyres on them and the front has 18x8 with 235/40/18.

Now, the tyres are pretty good, they are hankook k104s, they seem to grip good. But what is happening is when i hit a bump on the road, my car seems to hover all over the road. This especially happens to the back end of the car.

Also, when taking a corner hard, the back end wont step out smoothly, the car will try and skip around the corner. The handling has got progressively worse since the tyre change so i know its something else besides the tyres.

I have been thinking that it may be my shocks or some worn out bushes somewhere.

Anyways, hope someone can help.

Thanks, Mike.

Hi Mike. most 18" wheels weight heaps more than the standard 16" wheels, especially when they are 36% wider (7" versus 9.5"). This show up any weakness in the shock absorbers as they have to control the movement of this extra weight. So my guess is it time for new shocks. If the car has doen more than 60,000k's then its time for new shocks anyway.

:( cheers :)

PS; There is a Group Buy on Bilstein going at the moment, check in the group buy section.
