Guys,

Im putting a Rb26/30 in my R32 and was wondering what sort ot RW and AWKW i could expect the mods are:

RB30 Bottom End CR of approx 8.8:1

CP Forged Pistons

Standard Rods with ARP Rod Bolts

Balanced Bottom End

Cam Gears

Power FC

R34 N1 Turbos

Nismo Fuel Reg

600cc injectors

Serviced RB26 Head

Exhaust from standard dump pipes back

Will this setup make 350rwkw and 300awkw?

Any suggestions or comments greatly appreciated.

Hey J

I have almost the same setup - but I have used the std RB26 bottom end.

I do have dump pipes – HKS style, with the short twin pipes from the turbo down to the engine pipe (+25awkw just from them I think)

I do have a 3.5” exhaust front to back

I also have the PFC and the Apexi EBC plus the R34 N1s, forged bottom end with std rods (linished and shot peened for good measure) with some minor head work too (competition valve seats are the main upgrade)

BUT I have not got 600cc injectors, I still have the std 440cc, and I still run with the std AFMs

Now for the good news - I currently get just over 300rwkw and about 292awkw running 18psi (easy)

I plan to change the AFMs and injectors within 6 months and expect to get to 350awkw comfortably.

My next upgrade ?may? Also include a bigger FMIC – and I hope to get the same power levels at lower boost (dreaming I know)

Cheers guys,

il post a dyno sheet when its done

To give you an idea my mechanic did one of these with the N1 twins a few years back, and they couldnt find a dyno back then that could hold the car down to tune it out to redline.

They were using R32 N1s as well. It made 350rwhp at 4000rpm then just spun up on the dyno no matter what they did. And my mechanic said he would NEVER EVER put his foot flat in that car, it was too scary, yet he's fine driving 500+hp RVRs. That said, the engine did have a fair bit more work than yours.

Id say you will easy make that power and it will come on like nothing else. Will be one fun as car! ;)

Hmmm

one mans scary is another mans thrilling :(

Not that i disagree the gtrs arn't a good turbo, it's just i have not seen any of them product much better top end at all over (GT2560R/HKS 2530) for the reduced low down responce and spool up. It might just be no body has found the right setup or posted a thread on it. I think markgtr34 made around 570rwhp is the best i have heard about, but i know of plenty mid 500rwhp twin 2530/gt2560r/t517z etc so my point is ,is 20rwhp worth loosing bottom end and responce.

    • Good news!!! Changed the O ring today and I’ve got the “pssshhhh” back when I open the fuel cap 😂🙌🏼🙌🏼 It was 100% the O ring because that bloody thing was inside the fuel tank 😂😂😂😂😂 Fitting new fuel pump was a pain as always since the DW is a bit longer than stock. But she’s running!!! ❤️
    • PWM quite literally just chops the ful 12V voltage on and off at whatever duty cycle you're running it at. If you're running it 100%, then it is on full voltage all the time, same as if there was no PWM. If you run it at 50% duty cycle, it is only seeing the full 12V half of the time. This is broadly equivalent to running it at 6V. But the crucial difference is that motors (and a lot of other loads) don't like being powered at low volts. They will either fail to start rotating, or draw a shit ton of current, or other undesirable things. But if you give them the full volt, and then a short period of no volts, and then some more full volts, then the times when they are seeing power they are seeing all the voltage, and they are happy. But you get the performance out of them as if they were only seeing that fraction of the full voltage. It is not really easy to answer your question about what flow you will get out of it at 50% duty cycle. I can tell you that it is not as simple as you think. For a start, that 460 L/h pump is not going to flow 460 when you're on boost. When you're on boost you will be somewhere down the sloping part of that red line. If you have 15 psi of boost, then the pump can only deliver about 95 gal/h, which is <380L/h. So your simple 50% on 460 = 230 wasn't going to work anyway. But also, it won't deliver 50% of 380 either, because when you devolt or PWM trim th epower being fed to the pump, it is not able to deliver flow or pressure in the same way. 50% duty cycle will probably produce <50% of the full voltage flow. The way to find out what duty cycle you need to run it at at low load (ie, at idle) is to idle it and turn the DC down until you start to lose fuel pressure, then turn it back up above that with some extra for safety. And then you do the same thing at full load, in case it doesn't need anywhere near 100% DC. And if you're careful/caution/prudent, you will also do it at a couple of loads in between so you can shape the DC map against load. It might not be linear between the two end points.
