FATGTS-R
Red tops (there are two red versions, NICS and ECCS) have a 12 port head as opposed to silver tops 6. Reds have a smaller turbo. Reds have low imp hose tail injectors, silver has high imp O ring type. Reds are older and from the 31 series cars and parts are a lot scarcer. Factory VS factory setup the silver has more power. Engines alone with identical ancillaries I reckon there would not be much if anything at all in the power difference. Jago
so how much power difference are we talkin about here? about 20kw? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> more than that, i think it's like 40kw the ECU on the NICS RB20 is really poo poo, to get anything worth while from it you need some re-tuning, head work and a bigger turbo etc etc Got rid of mine before the car even hit the street Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/86307-wats-da-difference-redsilver-rb20det/#findComment-1562991 Share on other sites
R31Nismoid
the redtop head vs the silvertop is different in many ways, also the eletrics in the heads are prone to failing - IE CAS sensors etc. Try finding a CAS for a redtop as there are 3 different ones Its not worth the hassle stick with silver Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/86307-wats-da-difference-redsilver-rb20det/#findComment-1564905 Share on other sites
rob82
The silver top had intake and exhaust lobe seperation of 6deg for each cylinder. To aid in the swirl effect. Pretty cool idea I thought.
