Screw This Wet Weather

Im gonna make a little rant here guys !

This wet weather absolutely sucks. I almost stacked it going around a corner at about 10-15km/hr last night. Dont know if it was wet weather or oil on the road, but it was absolutely goddamn slippery

Then this morning some absolute idiot stopped before merging onto the freeway, and here i am doin 110km/hr Lucky for the ABS or i wouldve been screwed.

Going around roundabouts id be scared to do more than 10km/hr now. I am seriously tempted to get rid of my absolutely shit Falken ziex tyres. You'd expect that just because i have 245's all round that id have decent traction.

I'm tempted to jump into tempe today and just pick up a set of fronts in a decent flavour. Something that will handle this crap weather.

You'd be better of using ABS Plastic as tyres in the wet than using those ZE326's. Can't belive you have 300+ rwkw but run those tyres, thats asking for trouble. Even my girlfriend in her N/A R33 has trouble not breaking traction in the wet with those tyres.

Dump them now and go buy a decent set of tyres before its to late.

I have a set of Bridgestone Potenza's outside that im tempted to get tempe to slap onto my current rims. But i've only got two of them ?

Would that be decent enough ?

I wouldn't mix tyres, but thats your choice. If you are going to, make sure they are exactly the same size.

I dont think its going to matter if what tyres your running, once you hit boost in 1st you're going to loost traction in the wet with your power

If the potenza's have been sitting outside in the weather/sun for a while then they won't be much better either. But you've gotta get rid of those Falkens before you kill yourself.

Yeah decent rubber helps in the wet, but I always tend to just drive off boost in the rain. Try driving in sexy Nexen compliance tyres in the rain and you'll know what I mean.

Whether the tyre is 245 or 265, if it's a crap tyre i don't think it'll help you

get some good tyres if you like grip and are not good with the wet weather, it will make a huge difference.

265's at the back and 235's at the front and it's fkn scarey driving in the rain..

Well i had compliance tyres on my 33 GTS-T before, and they were absolute crap in the wet also. It feels like you're driving the car on ice. Absolutely no control in the wet. Theyre not too bad in the dry however.

What REALLY shits me, is that ive had them for 20,000 kms and id say there is at least 70% tread still on em ??????

Its hard to justify getting rid of tyres with good tread

aww first time ive drivin my new car in decent rain. it sucks.. ya gona like hold back all the time i was just turning off a round about in second, press the peddel a little, and ass end just swings out to about 45* .. lucky there was no car next to me.

Although your tyres may be garbage just remember that from memory we just had the dryest winter on record and wnow with a light shower of rain the roads would be incredibly greasy.

No suprise, they even wear like cheap shitty tyres (ie last forever). Better to spend $1500 or so now on a new set of tyres than total your car !!! And in the dry they are pretty crap as well... try a good set of tyres you'll be amazed.

U kidding me??? I had an absolute blast driving in the rain today, did a couple of (slow) power slides at the intersection, finally felt what it islike to have the tail snap right back.........phew wheel spins at every start LOL

bridgestone type 2 is awsome rubber, id recomend it to any one!

Drop your rear tyre pressues when it is wet, down to like 26 or so if you have fat rear wheels.

I run Kumho 712s

235 front, 255 rear, and I can honestly say I've never had a problem in the rain.

Even today when I was snapping second in a straight line, they'd only spin for about 3 or 4 secs before regaining traction.

The only time Ir eally spun, was on the last set of rears which were about 10% tread and the snap caught me, but that was in the dry.

Be careful out there dude - I stacked my car the other week because of how the roads are at the moment... get some good tyres ASAP, and keep your speed down and 110% attention on any corners/roundabouts!

I stacked my car with $1200 worth of brand new tyres due to greasy roads with the speed I was doing (not speeding) If it was raining proper, or if we'd had some rain before it wouldn't have happened... bah...

Yep, i've got Falken Ziex's on my 33 in the wet and it's shocking... doesn't understeer at all, but loves to spin them up at and speed

They defintely don't seem to as bad as your tyres though, I can still corner / accelerate OK, I just can't go near boost (note: i've only got a cat back)

I would get new tyres but the only way I can have fun is by loosing traction, so I know with a good set of tyres i'd get bored very quickly and the bank balance would go to hell

Ditch that crappy shit. Buying tyres may suck, but it'd suck more having to fork out cash to repair your car if you crash into someone.

Like many others have said, my car started out with compliance tyres. The most useful thing they should be used for is to test how much smoke your car can make (on a private road of course), then dump them, and get something decent.

you don't have to spend $1k each tyre to get decent handling. try the fk451 falken. Instead of doing 10 k around the roundabout in the rain, you'll be doing 30-40+. good tyre, good price.
