... dark black...

As opposed to light black huh...

* sorry - can't resist being a smartass :P

The '05 GTs look pretty good on paper. More oomph than a standard WRX. My P's just got an '04 with a sunroof the size of a squash court. Very nice - albeit buffety.

Stonnington (Prahran) TMU use an '04 XT - silver and green ones.

They have a black Magna too.

Saw a speed camera on the way to work today - was Commode wagon with the camera equipment in a custom cut-out hole in the bumper. No more sticking the box on the naturestrip it seems...

If they only spent half that much time and money on improving the shit roads in victoria with all the renenue they are making from those cameras.

not to mention all the money spent on researching better ways to hide the f*kin things.

i see them all the time on east boundary road near my house... there hasnt been an accident let alone a fatal one on that road for years... since ive been in the area actually and ive been in the area for 10 years yet theres always one because theres a lot of need for one on that stretch of road

Off topic, but what's with massive sunroofs?

My mate has a 206GTi with doors and sunroof that are almost bigger than the car itself! :(

The sunroof opens both ways, panoramic.

I also saw a black XT on Princes HWY on saturday night too. It pulled over another car that was speeding.

P.S - The last Forester GTs eneded production in 2002. Replaced by the XTs - apparently insurance companies don't like the letters "GT" much.

Could be a little different in VIC but a camera mounted in the cop car? Surely that can't be right...

In NSW there has to be ample amounts of warning before you even get close to the fixed speed camera. Someone car to explain?

Not in Victoria. here the governement tries to hide them from view so they can catch those evil people going at 53km/h.

I know what you mean in syd though, when i was up there a few months ago in the "shire" there were 5 sings before a speed camera. they make it very obverious for the driver up there, pitty they have shit roads though...

I hate those evil cameras mounted on the dash, with the radar on the front numberplate... always on 90's magnas and the like... have been done a couple of times within a km of my house (65km/h yay!...not)... the only way you can tell them from behind when they are parked on the left is the tell tale cb style attenna

LOL... i know all too well about the black magna... doing the rounds at a certain carpark in prahran ;)

I saw a gutsy mobile speed camera operator parked in his commodore on the side of the western ring road on Sunday! sneaky...

i see 1 almost daily on my way to or from work...there is a school zone (40km/h between the set hrs) and they always have a car there....its kind of obvious, as no one else would park there....but the camera isnt really visible (its on the ground in front of the car) until its too late....

i've never been done, but 40km/h is a bloddy hard speed to stick too! lol

seen a dark blue unmarked BA ute twice in the eastern suburbs. both times had pulled someone over.

Hmm.. Is that everyones' favourite police officer?

    • Out of curiosity, what's the reason for converting? I think @R3N3 might have the Frenchy's kit in the R33? I somehow think of you as the ambassador for realistic and clean street-driven setups nowadays
    • careful when running the car after a boil over. Ive heard you can lose enough coolant that it won't show the right temps because of too much air in the system (or something like that). Make sure the levels are good before trying again.  Maybe a mobile mechanic can come have a look with their scan tool ?
    • OK, just for some extra clarity - there is more than one option at Frenchy's. 1. You can buy the whole kit - with or without the actual compressor. The whole kit includes mounts, hoses, condensor, etc. That's either ~$2200 or ~$2800. No surgery required with this option. 2. You can buy just the bracket (~$600), or the bracket with the compressor (~$1200). Either of this or the above option "without the compressor" is if you already have an Echo comp or you are able to source one locally. Whatever the case, in this option, you will need surgery done on your hoses to adapt to the new compressor. When I said "the Frenchy's kit", I meant the whole kit in option 1. It is obviously somewhat more $$ than a $1500 OEM compressor. But if I had to spend $1500 on an OEM compressor, I would certainly consider spending double that to renew and significantly update everything forward of the firewall. Another option is to rebuild your original compressor. My R34 comp is currently dead and I will be most likely doing that to it if the spare one in the shed is also leaky.
    • I’m thinking that’s the route I’ll  go, thanks for the input!
    • Hey all, my 2004 Nissan Skyline 350GT overheated the other day with coolant boiling and leaking out of the coolant reservoir when I was parking. So today, I started it up again just to see if it was a thermostat/head gasket issue. After about 20 mins of running, temps were normal again, no coolant was leaking out and the upper reservoir hose was warm but my engine suddenly cut off. I checked the oil dipstick and cap when it was running and there was no white foamy residue and the exhaust did not have white smoke. I tried starting up the car again but it would only crank, similar to when I had a camshaft sensor issue just that now there’s no check engine light on the dash. Any ideas? Unfortunately I don’t have an OBD2 that can read the Nissan's programme.
