Following the wise words of Obi Won Kenobi: "Use the force Luke..."

Doesn't matter what everyone here says, in the end the car is yours and so is the decision. What everyone is saying is quite valid, but only you would be able to know for sure. Just be wary of the "holiday" thing; question it and don't commit to anything until you're satisfied with the answers...

Just a quick update...i went down to see the car again today to check it more thoroughly, and it looks like i may get it. I looked for any of the problems listed but i couldnt find anything obvious.

As to the crap steering wheel, apparently the one on the car now was just an old one put on for compliance as the car had an aftermarket wheel originally, so when i get the car they will put back the aftermarket or put a brand new factory wheel on, which i was happy about.

There is also some slight water marks on the drivers seat because the window was left open on the boat and water got into the car, but i am assured that the car is being steam cleaned and it will remove all of it. The minor body scratches will be removed in the cut/polish all except for the one on the boot, which isnt totally removable.

All in all, for the price, i think its a good deal. I am gonna sell my car for 15-18k hopefully, so thats pretty much half of the total price so im not really paying 35k, which is the main plus point that validates all this in my conscience lol. Thanx for all the input guys i really appreciate it and ill update u guys when i know more.

what kind of 33 do you have? i'm in the market for 1...so PM me with some details

Also, i tried to get them down under 35k but theyre not budging, mainly coz of the colour of the car, which apparently is extremely rare. Its a dark blue with a reddish purple pearl. Its in fact a factory colour so i was amazed. ive never seen one that colour before, i thought it was a spray job. Either way, the colour is beautiful and that was the main selling point for me

If you are sure it hasn't been repainted, then they are correct, it is a rare factory colour, but i always thought it only came out on R34 GTR's.

No im sure its a factory job...the guy showed me the Japanese R34 Nissan brochures...(very nice btw, wish i could get one of them) and for the GTT its one of the factory colours..i originally wanted bayside blue as ive seen some GTT's with that but i was told it was GTR only, but ive since learned that a small amount of GTT's were made in bayside blue. Still this dark blue/purple is pretty nice.

also, since ill prob be getting this car, can u guys give me some info on some skyline specialists that would do on site inspections of this car? any info would be greatly appreciate.

I want someone who knows skylines to do a workover of the car. i dont think theres anything wrong with it, but i just want to make sure

dark blue with reddish pearl? we're not talking midnight purple III here are we?? that's a GTR only colour as far as i know. I thought i've learnt pretty much all there is to know about GT-T, series 1 and 2. What year is it? If it's series 1. i HIGHLY doubt it's a factory colour. I've got series 2 brochures and it's certainly not there and i've never in my life seen the colour you're talking about. Here or at the auctions when i bought mine.

Did you get a paint code, ie TV2 = Bayside Blue...

holiday is a new one, never heard of that before...

what colour is the engine bay?

i swear dark blue with reddish/purple pearl is not a factory colour

Paint code = LXO

Don't think there is too much variation for GT-T.

BNR34

TV2 - Bayside Blue

QM1 - White

KR4 - Sonic Silver

KV2 - Athlete Silver

GV1 - Black Pearl

AR2 - Active Red

EV1 - Lightning Yellow

LV4 - Midnight Purple II

LX0 - Midnight Purple III

WV2 - Sparkling Silver

QX1 - White Pearl

EY0 - Silica Breath

JW0 - Millennium Jade

The engine bay was the same colour as the car too, otherwise i wouldve assumed it was a respray.

the pearl u cant really see as the car needs a cut and polish but when its done and the sun is on the car itll be visible.

I have seen this colour actually once, in a sold auction on prestige motorsports site, so its not a one off i dont think either, but i know for a fact its not midnight purple

anyone know any "skyline specialists" who can do onsites? as well as offsite inspections?

    • Hi all. I am aware there is lots of discussions about jacking points, where to lift the car and what not. But as usual just a lot of "in my opinion" and nothing definitive, and everyone does it in a different way. I want to hear from some experienced people on which points on the car it's okay/safe/recommended to lift the car using a four point hoist/lift. I will attach some images of my underbody. Sills are largely okayish, the driver side jacking point is pretty mangled though and it looks like the underfloor is slightly pushed in too, but I might be wrong. In the German Skyline forum, the consensus is to use the sidemember chassis rails in the front and the rear subframe? bushing in the rear. I know the manual says to never use the sidemember for loading but lots of folk do it and it was definitely done on my car too as they are slightly bent too. Based on the images, what points do I use to not make the already present damage worse? I'd use wood or rubber blocks to spread the load across a bigger area of course. Driver side sidemember and jacking point mangled one) https://imgur.com/a/eKjzrJX Driver side rear jacking point https://imgur.com/a/W3DWF1P Passenger side sidemember and jacking point https://imgur.com/a/65UvIJe Passenger side rear jacking point https://imgur.com/a/h3k7j53 We can also see some underbody rust but so far it all looks somewhat treatable and nothing that requires a Yoshida style restoration.
    • Have you put an aftermarket oil pressure gauge on and verified your oil pressure?   Noise being on the block, on exhaust side, how high up the block does it seem to be? It could be the VCT system getting cranky, especially if it's mainly at idle, and when warm, as that'll be your lowest point for oil pressure. Could be showing that oil passages / VCT solenoid are blocking.
    • Well, hydraulic lifters will get noisy if they are dirty/fouled in some way, and exactly how that manifests will depend on exactly what schmutz is where. There is a procedure on here somewhere for dismantling and soaking/cleaning them. Replacing them with new is about 50% of the work and about 5% of the money!
    • Thanks for the reply @GTSBoy this is is a hydraulic lifter engine. Yea right i did not realise the lifters were supposed to be compressible while installed. I could push them down but i had to lean almost my while body weight on them.  I have never heard of a lifter/ lifters ticking only at hot idle and getting worse the hotter it gets. I have owned a few jdm cars with noisy lifters. This noise is slightly more subtle, it is more of a sharp gentle metalic tic than the solid and more loud tapping I've heard on lifters. I have used a metal rod, alloy tube, hose and stethoscope and could not find the source of the tick. But it appears to be loudest on the actual engine block behind the exhaust cam gear and next to the oil filter. I had mate (40 year old mechanic) go over it with me and he couldn't find it either..  Could it be a cam seal issue of some sort?  Cheers
