Well great news... Im still there...

It was over a $500 item i had to give away for free.... But over all the deal was still profitable and the customer spends 10g's a month with me so it was all good....

I stood up for my self and confidence took over. I would not have any trouble getting another job its just the hassle and the having to tell people i got fired... That would suck...

In the end im paying for the 500 bucks and all is back to normal....

I have learnt for this situation and have learnt where i went wrong and what to do next time.... Yes my profit is too high to be fired.... But in their words a loose cannon is far more un-profitable....

So im great... Going out tonight to coffee club to have a nice dinner with the mrs and enjoy....

I also recieved my cams in the mail today so it was a double win....

Plus i got a raise to stay..... LOL

Yea its pretty harsh to threaten someone to be fired from a few minor mistakes.

If you never take the risk of making a mistake you can never achieve to your full potential. If employers were to realise this, they would get a lot more from their staff as they would not have fear holding them back.

Yeah that is pretty harsh to threaten a job over $500!!

When someone fcuks up at my work the cost to the company is usually in the 5 figure dollar amount, and we dont threaten their jobs...... one guy even stuffed up 3 times in a year, and he still works here, although every job he does is triple checked :P

Good to see it has all worked out in the end though!

Wait, they made you pay $500 for your f**kup but gave you a payrise? Wheres the logic in that. If they were giving you a payrise you'd think they'd cop the $500 and say don't do it again. O well good for you ;)

Col dont be so hard on yourself, youve got the goods to earn 50k with one company, why cant you do it with another? Surely your Co. has competitors and would they like the insider view of thier operations, clients, new products etc. If they are dumping you for thier own political gains what do you owe them?

I know it sounds backwards but yeah an extra few bucks a day to stay... And i only had to pay part of the 500 bucks... So this weeks pay was a little low but they may take the rest next week.... Does not matter...

As for the compitetion.... We have surposed competition but really we smash em every time... So i would not help them. Plus its like leaving a family or something.... Ive worked there so long i am one of the longest serving employees....

Also they are sending me on a holiday in 6 weeks to fiji (FREE)... So i feel i was delt with fairly.... I calculated my annual income with bonus's and it more like 70k and the amount of products i have won or got for free is worth it too....

So i really dont wanta leave as its a cool job.... So ill stay unless i get a better offer in the mean time....

sounds like it' all working out!

enjoy Fiji - I used to do some IT work there. Interesting place when it comes to IT, but the people are great.

6 weeks on Fiji time, will seem like 6months!

just remember who did the back stabbing...

I wish it were 6 week in fiji... I meant im going in 6 weeks time for a week.... However my holidays were rejected by the big boss,... So i got to re-arrange the time to suit other staff....

But yeah... fiji here i come... one day soon....

good to hear you got back on track, Col ..

By any chance is your R33 S2 .. yellow? ;)

I've seen you fillin' up at the BP on gympie Rd near the maccas,

if that's you (judging by the plates), I gotta say your ride is phat!

Don't own a skyline yet, but yours is one of the ones that has inspired

me to go that way ;)

    • Thanks Duncan! Yeah it's street use for me only. Maybe occasional track day. Any difference in noise when running with the two pumps? I would expect the lift pump to be more quiet than the main pump so hopefully not? And yes, unfortunately quite a big price difference to the simple hanger setup. Though I'm usually willing to trade money for better reliability and future-proofing. Buy once, cry once and all that. I'd be very happy to never have to deal with fuel pump / wiring issues again
    • The old manifold was quite under the GTR strut brace.  The new manifold is quite [unknown] the GTR strut brace. The GTR strut brace was needed to clear the bonnet vents. The Old strut brace will almost certainly clear the new manifold, but not the bonnet vents. The old strut brace will almost certainly clear the new manifold, and the new bonnet without vents. But I am hoping the GTR strut brace clears the new manifold :p
    • On the bright side, at least you knew that it happened and remedied before anything happened. A friend of mine just took his Fiat 124 to a shop for an oil change and they didn't tighten the oil filter housing properly. 4.5 quarts spewed out and even after refilling + tightening the cap the engine has a tick now.
    • So, more pain. The FAST manifold is a little larger than the stocker. This is problematic because there really wasn't much clearance to begin with, so going from 'barely enough' well into 'no' is sad based on the external dimensions of the thing, even though where it bolts to the head is the same. Result is the fuel rails sit a good 25mm higher, and this is a bit of an issue with the wiring that runs behind the motor, and the fuel lines, and everything else. When pushing the manifold on, it required a huge amount of force to crush wiring looms to fit it, sensors like the MAP sensor are about 1mm from the firewall, and the FPR just has to bend ABS lines to be forced into place. After some brainstorming and some sad drinking, the loom for some reason ran from the grommet behind the ABS sensor, then to the driver side head, then back to the passenger side head. So all of this was pulled back and stripped, a few wires cut and rejoined, so that the 'branch' was now on the passenger side's head as below: Before you basically couldn't see anything behind the driver head. This is much improved! The MAP sensor is now pointing up (instead of at the firewall) Brackets have been made up for the rail. The rails are for a LS1, the manifold is designed around a LS2 as it's base. Which of course has slightly different bracketry and water pump clearance, hence the mods people need to do. Should be hopefully mounted tonight. I spent money on a new FPR that is slightly more compact than my Turbosmart FPR1200. The gauge has also been moved to the rail. There's also apparently an ORB to AN Union instead of the adapter, because the ~25mm of the current adapter is going to make the difference. Provided this all goes together and arrives today, it'll be the totally not stressful attempt to start it.
