I think we all would like an R34 gtr, especially one worked by some well known workshop, that would be ideal. B) B)

The reason I asked this question, was I am thinking of doing the english teacher thing for a year, nothing long term (so I don't end up like rezz or some of the other people who are sick of japan).

There are a few people I know that are thinking along the same lines and I was just wondering what people would like to buy in this situation.

my budget is in the 20 to 35 thousand bracket, which I guess is a common amount. but I would still like to hear about some of the cars that don't fit in this bracket.

also if anyone has pics, that would be great!

I would have to be gready and bring back a few, how could stop at one?

> one of those weired vans full of plasmas & couches.

> 94 r32 gtr V spec ll

> 02 rx7 type rb

> 02 r34 gtr v spec Nur

Must stop, loosing blood from brain......

now ive heard different opinions on this matter...

i thought, under the personal import rule you could bring in a modified car ie. the ones most of you mentioned. BUT supposedly; from a source that purely works in exporting cars from Japan, I've been told that even under the personal import rule the car has to be as stock standard as under SEVS and the most people are under the misconseption that they can be modified (like i was).

does anyone know the fact?

You mean like the red top and the black top 180sx SR20DET's which have bugger all difference between em other than rocker cover colour, yet they have forum monkeys spanking themselves silly over the vastly better "black top"?

Sorry for going off topic. But there is a difference.

Late model black top have VVT. The earlier model black top s14 and red top have NO VVT.

I'd go 34gtr NUR spec any day!

I would get something that you otherwise cannot get into the country, something that is so random people will give you confused stares while you drive down the street, something like the VanDeBrink Carver.

You'll notice I said 180sx black tops. Show me a 180sx black top with NVCS ;) Most people aren't aware of the difference between a 180sx engine and a s14a engine, like the lack of NVCS, and are willing to pay much more for a 180sx SR20DET with a black cover than a 180sx SR20DET with a red cover, even though they're only a year or so apart.

We've helped a few people bring in personal imports (couple of them being agents in japan bringing back they're daily drivers). In VIC the process is alarmingly similar to bringing in a 15 year old car. ie as many mods as you want, as long as they are not extremely different to stock (totally dependant on the engineer that signs off your car... some regard a single turbo converted RB26DETT as strikingly different to a stock twin turbo setup, etc). You just have to meet ADR's so no curved rear vision mirrors, seatbelts, fuel filler restrictor etc. and the car has to be roadworthy (as with ANY car you want to register).

So no, they don't have to be stock like the SEVS cars.

if you want to buy a car in japan, want something related to skylines that you can't get here, and want something that wouldn't come in under SEVS, and is relatively affordable... then try this:

I hope you don't mean this one.. :)

Correct...

1.) Buy car: xxxxxxx Yen

2.) Tuned in Japan xxxps :D and full of goodies: xxxxxx Yen

3.) Shipping, Port Clearance and Customs: $xxxx

4.) Compliance (Engineered): $85....under RAWS it would cost others at least $5K, stripped and return to stock without (with + hassles/more cost) goodies on car for compliance

5.) Compliance Plates $35

6.) RWC: $50

7.) Rego: $11xx

8.) Insurance $xxxx

9.) Profit!!! :rofl::blink::D

Do you have pictures to support that?

It looks like the same car, the other "sister cars" are different in colour.
