I purchased BATMBL split dump front pipe, and had it put on my car matched with ITS turbo and mechanic told me it is designed for turbos that got wastegate and turbo outlet separated like hks turbos and that is not designed for ITS or even standard turbos which got wastegate and turbo outlet together, is this true and if it is that means that i wasted $450...

doesnt sound true at all i had a batmbl split dump fitted to my stocker r33 hitatchi turbocharger and it fits up fine, the split dump has a section of steel cut out to split the wastegate and exhaust wheel sections. its suited for standard internal gate turbochargers. is the its turbo you have an external gate? if so then yeah it wont suit as its internal gate only

nah its internal gate, any other opinions?

thats what the exhaust housing outlet looks like, the left is the internal wastegate flap. the split dump you got from batmbl matches to that directly and bolts on perfectly. the turbo in the pic is a bnr32 turbo so its a lot smaller but same thing pretty much for r33 gtst, just bigger

Cordiapower....Show us a pic of the type of turbo you have from the exhaust side.

Then we can tell you if the dump you have is compatible.

Some of the older housings with internal gates will not allow for simple fitment of a generic split dump pipe. i.e VL turbo exhaust housings.

ill try to find a photo but it's similar to standard i think, the mechanic reckons that wastegate outlet and turbo outlet should be separate for split dump to work and in its turbo its together so it's gonna cause turbulence, the thing i dont get is he said it cant be used for standard turbo either and i know people from here use it on standard turbo...

Every BATMBL split dump I've seen has a dividing 'tongue' to seperate the turbine outlet from the wastegate section of the stock RB20/25 turbo.

The HKS turbos RB20/25 bolt-on turbos already have seperated turbine outlet and wastegate section so the 'tongue' on the BATMBL dump flange has to be ground off so it will fit on an HKS turbo.

It sounds to me like the mechanic is saying your dump doesn't have the dividing 'tongue'.

Does it have one?

Dump pipe does have dividing tongue (if it means than it has seperated path for turbo and wastegate gases, the thing is i think what he's saying is that turbo and wastegate outlet should be seperated so you can use split dump pipe, while on ITS turbo it's not so wastegate and turbo gases will interfere...

Does the back of the turbo look like the pic posted above? If so the BTMBL dump will work, it may just need a little modification if the exhaust housing is not exactly the same as the stock turbo.

it is reputable imports workshop here in perth, so ill just go normal 3 inches dump for now, the car will make too much power for standard internals anyway, they just dynoed the same car with same turbo and standard computer and it made close to 400hp atw and as i am after only 350hp atw and am using wolf 3d i dont really need to extract every single hp, thanks anyway guys

go to an exhaust shop dude. some mechanics are not very import savvy
